Kenneth Hines and Jason Vong posted a series of street photography videos and tutorials on YouTube, and Hines has basically made a living off his 85mm Zeiss Batis shooting street in NYC. They both tout Sony gear and 85mm for street.

I agree with this, but before I was into photography I hired several photographers for various events and I always found it super annoying when they withheld a lot of pretty good images. Sometimes clients care more about quantity. I think the best situation is to under-promise and over-deliver. And not every image has to be absolutely perfect.

If you think of your photography as art, then it's not creepy. If it bothers you though, then I would suggest quickly asking people if it's ok that you use their image. Does it matter? No, but you might have some peace of mind, and then you have something to tell any haters.
