is this still the only cable option to power an extra ssd?
https://www.amazon.com/Zahara-Replacement-G8TXP-0G8TXP-POWEREDGE/dp/B07XXYXMJZ

the integrated controller for the 12 3.5 bays is being passed through to a truenas vm.
the 2 rear flexbay drives are mirrored zfs sas drives running proxmox off of a lsi pci controller.

i would like to add an SSD and move the vms over to it. preferably 2 if possible. So my question is, is this the only cable that would work? or does someone know of a cable that can power 2 ssd's?

oh and what about the power off of the riser card. can this be used for drives?

So i am going to re-ip some devices in my network and am looking to make a proper OOB network. For things lke iDrac, ipmi, ups interface, and thinking about the proxmox interface as well.

on my L3 switch ill create the access list for certain machines on my network to gain access to that subnet and nothing else. but then i was thinking about it. if i do that then they will not have any internet access either. which is fine and what i ultimately want. but then how do you manage BIOS, firmware, and any general updates etc?

how are you guys/gals setting up the oob? are you even using one?

So i am looking to pickup a 730 8x3.5" w/ 2x2.5" in the rear. The device comes wih a perc h730. i am looking to run proxmox or esx (currently on esx on first server) with a virtual Truenas passing through the front 8 drives.

i can't find a "current" definitive answer on if the H730 can plainly pass through the drives in HBA mode. If it can't, ill just use it to raid the 2 rear.

But, and here is my question. if i put a LSI 3008 card (8 port, 2 cables) in does the backplane use standard sata connectors that will work with SFF-8643 cables? i assume the current cables from the backplane going to the motherboard are proprietary, And wondering if the same is for the backplane. or maybe i am completely wrong and my setup would work
