He had would have had a good chance. People often like to revisit the 2021 mvp through a different lens. Even though it was Jokic’s “weakest” season in the past 3 years he won the voting in a landslide due to his durability.
The clippers went out and got “playmakers” just like everyone called for and yet their offense, especially late in games, looks worse than ever.
Kawhi has to be a top 10 player for the clippers to contend, and right now he looks like a top 35 player. PG has been the clippers best player overall but he has to have some of the worst performances from an all nba caliber player. The thing that’s concerning is that even if Kawhi does round into form can his body hold up for 20-25 games.
I probably wouldn’t have him first team but KCP should be in strong contention for an all defensive team. Kawhi’s defense has been good, and McDaniels has probably been the best wing defender in basketball this season.

You play out the rest of the season and evaluate from there. If they continue to fall flat you give Kawhi and PG moderate short term deals or tell them to take a hike.
His defense is good his offense isn’t. When he’s not playing with Jokic and Murray he’s not getting layups and dunks.
Denver is the only team I can’t see them beating. All the other top teams in the west look like fringe contenders. I would bet against it but I think if Ty Lue starts playing the right lineups and they flip one of their guards they have a punchers chance.
He’s had to do more because Murray is out and the bench was bad tonight. He did “choke” at the end but he looked tired from carrying.
