That’s a really solid point, but they make it difficult to have proper situational awareness, so use cautiously.

It’s not a discount if you are expected to pay more to add a tip.

But dude, quit changing the subject, I’m not talking about people not tipping within the current system, never have been, and neither was the person you originally replied to. I’ve worked tipped positions, so I very much understand how they work.

So again, are you suggesting that if we do away with tipping, costs of food would increase by MORE than the present amount of a tip that gets tacked on? Because that’s the only way prices for the end consumer actually meaningfully raise. Most likely they will actually go down overall. Because again you have to pay the tip too.

You are really bad at reading comprehension btw. That, or you are a piss-poor troll and intentionally misrepresenting literally everything.. the option to be a leech is the customer, who in the present system can skip the tip. Like a leech.

Also, there aren’t any restaurants around me that scrapped tipping, not a single fucking one within at least an hour of where I live, so your suggestion is impossible for me and very privileged.

Are you suggesting that food prices will go up by more than the cost of the tip tacked on?

Because if not it’s really just more honest pricing, and the same (or reduced) impact on customers, but without having to do math or having the option of being a leech.

As someone in a swing state, I’d be ok with that. Make the US like the EU.

For one thing, every 4 years residents of swing states get relentlessly harassed and it fucking sucks. But also It’s so so much easier to make changes on a smaller local level without the influence of distant populations. Sure it would suck in some ways and for some states, but maybe if each state only had to convince a few thousand people to do better, rather than literally millions (presidential election, very demoralizing), swing states would be more left leaning.

And if not, well it would probably be a lot easier to move states than move countries, even if they were EU style countries.

It kinda looks like a game king cartridge, from the inside bits (can’t find a pic of the whole thing), but that’s from the early 2000s. I went through a list of older handhelds and that’s the closest entry. But importantly, that probably isn’t it.

What you have is probably a regional knock-off sort of thing, or something that was never popular/prominent enough to be added to the wiki page.

This is the handheld list I went through. I stopped at the DS, as I assume yours is considerably older than that. Some of the old systems only have a handful of games for them, so it’s possible it’s something that just wasn’t made in large numbers, but my bet is on super-generic-knockoff-gamebay/gamboy/toyboy/gamekid handheld system (jokey knockoff names not real things afaik), which are not listed with the actual non-knockoff systems. (I wasn’t able to find much about vintage knockoff/copy systems)

Food related patterns would be pretty strong indicators for me as well, I think.

I only eat after 4pm (sometimes only from 6-10 or so) and people comment when I actually eat earlier than that, especially breakfast. I almost never use condiments or salt (I’m on a very low sodium diet and have been most of my life; I don’t use salt outside of baking, and that’s half salt). Give my dopple unsalted fries and you’ll know right away.

Drinks would work well for me as well - coffee made a very specific way, or room temp water, mostly (I actively dislike cold and hot water).

That’s like one of the super grindy JRPG titles I have (100 hours or so to get through the story). To get all the achievements, you’d have to play through an absolute minimum of 9 times, because you need to kill the end boss without taking damage on each difficulty level, and they unlock as you go. But you’d actually be grinding bosses for ages trying to get them without taking damage..

The game was ok, but I honestly can’t see wanting to play it twice let alone 9 times.. there’s definitely a reason almost nobody has those achievements..

I ordered papaya salad ages back and was told basically the same thing (Vietnamese? Thai? Idk). It was unpleasant but I liked it? I guess I liked it? I ate it, tho it took a while. It was very fishy, which I dislike. But idk, it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever had. And now I kinda want it again.

In several countries, and absolutely historically, it’s actually been a government-classified relationship status.

It just means people involved in a romantic and sexual relationship who are unwilling or unable to legally marry for whatever reason (because they are already married, because they aren’t legally qualified, such as one member is from a slave caste, etc)

So I looked.

The long and short of it is that HVAC tape has stronger and more temp resistant (see also: gooey) adhesives. The foil or composite layer on the outside does act to protect the adhesive, but it also serves to create an impenetrable barrier for moisture and air that is rigid and not prone to flex with increased air movement. This is valuable in systems that create a mild vacuum when kicking on, or where the air being pushed could create holes for air to move through.

It’s sort of not “one reason”, but a handful of reasons that work in tandem.

No idea what purpose it serves on an airplane tho.

I’m guessing he thought it was a fancy term for slaves. Which is wrong in a lot of ways, but also just weird..

It’s the best read of it I can manage though..

So it’s the same tape used for ductwork?

What purpose does it serve in this case?

My understanding for hvac ducting is that it…. Stays on forever? Probably the metal layer prevents the adhesive from breaking down..? Actually I have no idea..

To the internet I go!

I have very very old power tools. I cannot afford new ones. The problem is, if I’m being totally honest, I’m largely afraid of the tools I have. I’d like to get over this. How does one do that without direct supervision?

More info: I inherited tools from my parents and grandparents. Things I could afford to replace, like drills and drivers, I did. What I have left are big bladed things (chop saw, table saw, tile saw, etc. no lathe sadly :( ) None of the users of these specific tools are still alive. They are all probably 30+ years old, and work fine, probably, but… are just super intimidating (tho my grandfather had a lot of pre-electrification manual tools and I love those - So nice to take a manual plane to a solid door and end up with something that closes properly!). Some of them have plugs that screw together so you can repair them and everything (those I probably won’t use, absolutely terrifying if you fuck up). I’m mid 30s so I remember most of these things being used but I also remember the table saw I have in my garage taking off half my step-dads thumb..

I know power tools today are built to be a lot safer, but I definitely can’t afford those (I wouldn’t even be able to afford these but they were free for me), and I don’t know anyone with power tool skills (last learning I got was in hs shop class almost 20 years back) so how do I get comfortable with them enough to actually use them for the little projects I need them for? I don’t live in a big metro area, so there aren’t clubs afaik.
