Did anyone else just try to get their fingertips as close to each other as possible without touching?

Yeah, I realize it's an insanely unpopular opinion. Oblivion, on paper, is an objectively better RPG that is truer to the Elder Scrolls formula than Skyrim, but I just don't know, man. I've always had great difficulty liking it and tend to come up with nothing but gripes. I will give it another honest shot if this remake I've heard wind of ever comes to fruition. I owe it that much.
The Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion is probably my best answer. Remains the only modern Elder Scrolls that I've only played through once with no desire to return to. Feels clunky and sluggish, the world is washed out and bland, the enemy scaling is a slog, itemization is not interesting or impactful, the UI is uncomfortable, etc. While it does a lot of things better than Skyrim, I just can't bring myself to enjoy the experience like I did Morrowind, and I admit I've sunk far more hours into Skyrim as well.
I'm weird as hell in that I enjoy music, but I rarely ever sit down and listen to it. Then the other day I learn that my three-year-old discovered Bush's Glycerine on the way home from daycare and has now been asking for it on our Google Home. I realize, "Dude, I fucking loved Glycerine.", and immediately set to assembling a playlist over the course of three days, made up of mostly older music I grew up with. But you bet your ass I still don't listen to it. Anyway.. That's my TED Talk on music.
I can see how this would be exhausting after a while. I get a "come here" from my wife every couple of days or so when my daughter is doing something cute, or something weird is happening outside. It's generally reserved (for the most part) for something fleeting that's worth coming there to see.
As Tyrone from Trailer Park Boys would say, "You're sayin' "come here'" too many times! 80 or 90 times? That's too many times! Once or twice is cool, but 80 or 90 times, man?! That's too many "come heres", know'm sayin'? That's too many times. Once or twice is cool, but 80 or 90 times?"
American ex-pat/Canadian permanent resident here. This is all pretty accurate in my experience, though I can't speak on using Imperial for work-related measurements or pool temperature. Just this morning I had to describe our current bout of cool weather in Ferenheit to my friends back home, and was reminded all over again how ridiculous it is that the US still isn't on metric. This rings especially true whenever I call my mom. Seems like I have to "Hey Google" conversions in every conversation we have. Before my dad died he would keep his weather app on Celcius to report the weather to me in metric. I honestly love that he felt compelled to do that.
It was a little weird getting used to the metric system initially, but I honestly prefer it at this point. I used to argue that you could be more precise with Farenheit, as the scale was broader. However, I've since come to realize that no one cares whether it was 74° or 76°.
Google needs to make the three Little Pigsels, a series of special starter Pixels for children. The three Pigsels come in Straw, Wood, or Brick, and feature a stock Android UI and a standard Pixel camera to get your child started on the correct path.
I've switched to DuckDuckGo as my primary search engine. The results are akin to what Google once produced.
If Sync Pro ever works with Lemmy I'll be so happy. Everyone is mourning Apollo and I'm over here feeling like I'm attending Sync's funeral alone.
