Kind of a strange thing to do, don't you think?

In Quinnipiac polls conducted in five of the seven key swing states throughout October, Harris had a significant lead among women, while Trump saw a comparable advantage among men in those same places.

This is likely due to the whole "Alpha male" toxic mentality people like Andrew Tate keep peddling. They've managed to condition a lot of men that women should not perform any role other than being an obedient housewife.

According to recent polls, Democrats seem to be losing support among groups they’ve counted on in the past, like Black men and Latino men.

This one is the most concerning. This could really swing a few key counties and even entire states. Hopefully Democrats can address this in time to rectify it.

Just signed up about 2 minutes ago and havent gotten my email. I'm a patient man, but even I have my limits.

Interested to give it a shot though. Hopefully it gets sorted out soon.

The geographical instances already exist for the most part. .world is an American instance in all but name, there's lemmy.ca for Canada and some European ones.

A sports instance would be pretty funny if im being honest. Can you imagine the drama between the different communities for a specific team?

Absolutely. I think the setup of the Fediverse in general as well as the outlook on it by the majority of admins would allow Lemmy to keep its charm even when it grows to a much bigger size.

Just ignore/downvote/argue them. Whatever you prefer and have the energy for. I don't believe blocking people just because they disagree or annoy you is a good mindset to have personally. You're just setting yourself up to just browse in an echo chamber.

I remember a few months ago there was a post on Asklemmy where the person talked about how they enjoyed talking to an AI chatbot more than human interaction. During the course of the discussion it came out that this person had some incredibly crappy views on things like politics and human loss. This person admitted to blocking over 500 people on Lemmy because of it, and it's likely gone up since then. Blocking people just sets one up to have that kind of mindset.

It's just some random internet person. Why would what they say annoy you?

[–] Sundial@lemm.ee 5 points 3 weeks ago (5 children)

None, I don't think it's worthwhile to block users and create some kind of filtered bubble or echo chamber. To me, if you try to silence someone, you're afraid of what they have to say.

Are they insulting all Russians or the country Russia?

That's why Iran's direct, retaliatory responses have been so tepid

No, it's because America is holding a gun to their head saying "Try Something, we dare you." Can Israel beat Iran in a fight? Maybe. Can they occupy it? Definitely not, they're struggling to occupy Gaza and Lebanon who are being defended by militia groups. Iran is too big and has too big a population to be occupied by only Israel. And let's not even get into what their neighbors would do. Even their biggest friend, Saudia Arabia, has starting telling Israel to not use their airspace and not target certain Iranian targets. Israel and Iran fights, it becomes a regional war. And the entire region hates Israel with a passion, so it's not a stretch to think Israel would fight a lot more than Iran in that kind of war.

1,600,000 ground troops the Pentagon plans to send in this scenario. Iran knows all this.

Where'd you get that number from? That's much more than half of the entire size of the US military. I highly doubt they would deploy that number of troops to a single area in any conflict.

Going to make Netanyahu look like Ghandi.

Netanyahu would be Hitler in this case. Creating a regional, or even a world, war in the name of race superiority and ethnic cleansing. Oh wait, he's already doing that never mind.

Luckily, Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East, so something can be done about it.

Calling Israel a democracy is a bit of a stretch IMO. A healthy democracy doesn't limit journalistic integrity as well as imprison and kill journalists who speak up. Israel is pretty radicalized thanks to the culture of propaganda the government has propped up and uses. If you're constituents can't actually make informed decisions because you limit what they can know. Then it's not a proper democracy.

I never said it was a good thing, please don't put words in my mouth.

The summary from the last link connected the dots for me.

Thanks for the insights. Enjoy your coffee :).
