Flickr is one of the few places where I feel like photos are posted as photos for people to enjoy, and not just to get likes. Some people have amazing looking galleries on there.

It can look nice. It sets the photo apart from everything else around it, just like putting a photo in a nice picture frame.

Also, it sometimes alleviates the problem of posting multiple images of different sizes. Instagram likes to make all images conform to the ration of the first image chosen. If you put a border around images, you can adjust the size of the photo with the border to keep images consistent.

I’m trying to take a photo of my dog jumping over the fence.
I don’t understand why my photos look bad. ISO 3000 for more light. Aperture at 1.8 for bokeh. Shutter speed at 1/20. Is my camera broken?

Never seen that. Awesome.

I’m actually really impressed by what my phone can do now. But side by side, my Nikon always wins.

Point 1: agree! But it’s not that much when you consider it a business expense.

Point 2: I’m convinced half the people out there offering coursed just watched someone else’s course and changed a couple things around.”

Point 3: Phones have made the non-photographer believe that anyone can take great photos, so it only makes sense that they don’t want to pay a premium for “something my nephew could do.”

Point 4: I stopped posting on instagram when I realized most of the people liking my photos probably looked at them for less than three seconds.

We all know that a monkey can take pictures like Annie Leibovitz as long as they have a good camera. Right?
