I posted before on the shortcomings I had... I ordered a Supernote to compare as I had time within my return window.

I love the software on the Supernote tablet - so much functionality easily accessible - lasso headings, lasso keywords, star symbols for actions or other notable items in a notebook etc etc. Unfortunately their desktop (i.e. cloud) app is no better than Remarkable's so that's a wash.

Today I packed up my Remarkable2 and was upset at the potential of the device versus the reality - fantastic hardware let down by software - the Supernote is almost the reverse.

You can only search for converted text (and see issue #1 for why that doesn't work well)

And the zoom is not stored so you have to zoom every single time - strange UX decision...

I really like the writing experience with the Remarkable but it has what are (for me) some fatal flaws:

  • the handwriting to text feature is really impressive but having to do it manually every time is painful and even worse is that it does not respect any formatting, just mashing all my text together into one block
  • the search is unusable - why can't I search for tags or text within a notebook?! I have notebooks tagged to a client name and I also take notes from a sales call which talks about all the clients - I can't search for "Client X" and find all mentions of them
  • handwriting looks great on the tablet but from my PC at default resolution it looks dreadful - hard to read even

It's unfortunately - the hardware is fantastic but the implementation seems subpar to me :-(

I am trying to search on the Windows app. I have notes that have my search term (converted from handwriting to text) and I have tags with that same term. If I search for that same term I get no results.

What am I doing wrong?
