Sound advice. This I will do. Thanks!

For context: I'm working on releasing a local magazine.

So there is someone I really want in front of my camera. She has a look that just speaks to me. We went to high school together (10 years ago) and we were cool with each other but not friends. We knew each other's name and we're Facebook friends but that's about it. I heard she is an adult entertainer but I snooped on her Instagram and there isn't anything about that. But her style of dress and attitude (at least what she shows on social media) draws me in. It's confident and very "I don't mess around" if that makes sense. If she is an adult entertainer I would like to do an article on her and the people in that world and then do an editorial style shoot for the magazine with her. Maybe rent some designer clothes. Make it feel really good. Have a good time with it.

And there is a 2nd person. Me and this guy were in high school band together but we didn't communicate AT ALL. But I recently seen that he is a drag queen now. That interest me as well. I would like to photograph him getting ready. Behind the scenes type of stuff. And interview him for the magazine. And also do an editorial style shoot. Some glamour shots (I can never get enough of beautiful glamour). Some shots in his full outfit, some without the wig and makeup, and some softly lit of him in a muscle shirt, black tights and tube socks. Some really intimate black and white shot on my Rollei! IM EXCITED JUST THINKING ABOUT IT!

  1. I'm scared to ask
  2. I'm scared to ask because I'm a male. I don't wanna come off as some type of creep or weirdo. I want to come off professional and really interested in them and what they have going on. I am putting in a lot of time into this magazine. I really care about it and I want them to see that I am serious. I have my own cameras, lights and space to shoot

BUT HOW DO I APPROACH SOMEONE WITH THESE CRAZY IDEAS?! How would you?!

These are 2 people I am seriously interested in. They seem so interesting to me. Lol sorry for the long post!

I was like this with music. I still play but I realized the business side was not for me. I really think our band could have went far lol but I couldn't deal with the certain type of people in that industry and how the business is ran. If I were to try again, I would do it so differently. I'm a big Stevie Wonder fan and I always wondered how the heck was he able to make such great music while running a business. I suppose that's part of his wonder!

Are you doing it professionally now?

I'm sorry but I gotta get a Fuji x pro2 lol I had one and then sold it. Such a wonderful camera and just feels great lol x pro2 with a 18mm! Just wonderful! That's the only camera that I do not need but am willing to splurge on!

Wow. That's some inspirational stuff! And congrats on your weight loss!! And do you still have that Vivian Maier print? I bet that could sell for a nice piece of pocket change! .. lol had to creep on your reddit

So I have been scared out of my wits because I seriously want to follow my dreams. I want to start a digital magazine that features locals with a splash of non-local artists I have come to really admire over the years. I really want to get more involved in my local art community and just the community in general. This is my way to get more involved. My local art scene has some great painters, digital artists, and songwriters. I currently don't have my camera. Had to sell it to pay my bills. But I told myself when I get enough money to buy my equipment, I will start my project... So I'm getting very close to purchasing my camera and lens, and it's getting real lol. I'm scared but also excited!

Have any of you guys had this feeling?
