Laco is worth checking out for that price range. Some nice microbrand offerings too, from the likes of Traska, Boldr, Smiths, etc. My pick of the bunch would probably be a Traska Sumiteer 38.

If this was the NBA, he'd be traded elsewhere by tomorrow after saying that. All jokes aside, happy for him. He comes across well, works hard and knows his role. He'd be loved by fans anywhere he played.
As long as you don't mind the crystal being acrylic and not sapphire, I think Lorier do some really nice vintage inspired pieces for under $1000.
