Also true. There's a lot of enthusiasm in the Fediverse about writing alt texts, so who knows! It's a lot more work, but similar ballpark.

Because Lemmy.ca is a Canadian instance, and Greece is a long way from Canada.
A general instance like Lemmy.world might make more intuitive sense, if no Greek instance exists.
Then again, it doesn't really matter. If the Canadians are happy to host them it's all good.
Also worth mentioning that the community will be hosted at the same instance as the one you're currently on. So if you're half Greek and want to create a community about Greek culture, doing so from Lemmy.ca might be a bit weird. One of my favourite Lemmy.ca communities, !woodworking@lemmy.ca, seems however like a nice fit.
It's not necessarily a huge deal. It's worth checking that the instance appears to be run by reasonable people who appear dedicated to continue to support it - if the instance disappears, so does your community. And if you disagree with the rules of the instance, that's not good either. But for the most part, people don't pay all that much attention to which instance the community they subscribe to is hosted at.
I guess it could, but implementing it in a decentralized system is probably more complicated at this point than having computer generated ones.
Discussing politics at Lemmy.ml was a mistake to begin with - they're doing us all a favour by nuking it. :)
This comment is beautiful. Always vote.
Less, beautiful, more wordy:
- Even if you don't manage to flip a seat, your neighbours who feel the same hopelessness as you will look at the results at some point. Your vote will make them know they are not alone. It matters.
- Any change in the right direction is significant, and worth fighting for - voting for it is a no-brainer. The margins might make the difference between people voting or giving up staying at home at the next election.
- They won't you to believe you shouldn't even bother. Don't fall for it.
- Georgia flipped the Senate seat in '22, for the first time since the 90s. It's possible.
Go vote, folks.
I guess they would want some cybersecurity software like Crowdstrike in either case? If so, this could probably have happened on any system, as it's a bug in third party software that crashes the computer.
Not that I know much about this, but if this leads to a push towards Linux it would be if companies already wanted to make the switch, but were unwilling because they thought they needed Crowdstrike specifically. This might lead them to consider alternative cybersecurity software.
This is where people mess up when they judge the past in the eyes of the present. Communism in Marx' time had nothing to do with the Soviet Union, Mao or China.
In terms of becoming a real competitor of YouTube, this is a huge step. Accessibility is a must.
Amazing news!
That's a great explanation but a really shitty cup of tea.
Excellent reminder of how amazing the comic book looks. And how incredibly dull this trailer looks by comparison.
I'm not so sure the same visual style can be captured well in a cartoon movie - the flat colours and high contrast visuals would probably look funky in motion. Happy to be proven wrong though!
Edit: I guess in a way it has already been done with the motion comic. Looks better than the new movie for sure, but lacks the impact of the comic strip in my opinion.
Yeah, having an option to suggest corrections to captions would probably be much more popular than actually writing them from scratch. I doubt it will be high on the list of priorities, but it would be a neat feature for sure.
