I shoot corporate headshots with 3 strobes if I'm not lighting the background, and 5 if I am. I would never roll into a headshot job with a single speedlight.

Hard drives?

Being proficient in flash is going to open up all sorts of photography doors for you. I'd definitely recommend learning it if you want to advance to the next level.

Are they not serviced anymore because the parts do not exist?

I have an SKB case. I love it, except for the weight. Hard cases are always heavier. The biggest advantage is how much easier they are to secure. I can padlock and cable lock it during events which is nice.

Sounds odd to me, but maybe they have a health issue.

  1. My most commonly used wedding lenses: 24-70 2.8, 70-180 2.8, and a 50 1.2. Other lenses that I bring out periodically: 17-28 2.8, 24 1.8, 85 1.4, and a 100 2.8 macro.
  2. Embrace it and learn it inside and out. How you adapt to the blackholes weddings throw at you is what can set you apart.
  3. Be legit. Have back up gear. Back up the data.
  4. 2nd shoot or assist for a couple of weddings first.

As someone else has suggested, I'd first try and up your cellphone game before you consider buying a camera. Shoot in RAW, edit on an app, and consider some additional lenses for it like the stuff on Moment's site. But if you do decide to get a camera, list a price or give us a range. Those of us who try and help by providing suggestions need price ranges to give qualified advice.

What camera and lenses are you using for this event? And why is flash not an option?
