Huh yea you've actually got a great point there. Also one of the YouTubers I watch is quite open about his knowledge on content creation and the algorithm and he once claimed yt knows when and to whom showing ads is beneficial, if you don't mind sitting thru ads your supposedly more prone to get them, which is the reason why every time I'm using the official YouTube client for whatever reason I make sure to close and reopen the video as many times as it takes until I get it to start playing with no ads ๐Ÿ˜‚ If that is true they'd def use that as an opportunity to roll out more ads cus no ones there to skip em

They do, and they don't care. The algorithm is actually tailored to find out if/when you fall asleep while watching videos, and then recommends longer videos in autoplay when it believes you are, because they'll get to play you more ads and cash out more. When/if they implement pause ads advertisers will have an even bigger case against against yt inflating ad watch time to make more money. Facebook has this issue as well.

Im happy i helped :) keep in mind free tier accounts dont allow torrenting or other peer to peer activity so if u do that it will start behaving oddly and your terminal will spit out large texts warning you to stop

The irony is insane. "Act authoritative" even tho I literally didn't claim to know anything for certain (I do not -think-, perhaps, I believe). Also as other gentleman pointed out, no other comment was there when I tried to help. I asked about vnc -after- I made my initial comment, because a few minutes after other people started pitching in with more accurate and relevant information. I feared the post would go on to have no responses so I tried to pitch in; you don't have to know everything about everything in order to try and help someone out, all I did was provide my take on the matter, which is better than ignoring the question, regardless of how fruitful or fruitless what I had to say was. People like you are why noobs are afraid if dipping their toes in more technical areas such as linux, and get scared off by smartass supremacists that like to spoil things for no good reason. Sincere, seek help. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Im joining in on the reddit ditching thing, and was kinda worried at first that i wouldnt be able to like use it the way i did reddit as it feels like a whole new place, but after engaging with posts and people and actually being a part of lemmy rather than being lurk mode all the time i was pleasantly surprised with how easy it is to become a member of the community, theres a reasonable amount of subs (or whatever the other word for em is) that fit my interests, enough linux content and shitposting for my liking, and the overall random posts made by people equally fed up with Leddit. (also i admit i used reddit a little cus there was this post on the fedora sub showing how to fix a sound issue i been having after a recent update)
