I’ve segregated my watches into old ones and new ones for this SOTC update.
Across the top are two birth year pieces and 3 Seikos that I had intended to flip but haven’t quite let go of yet…The Omega has the most comfortable bracelet I’ve ever worn, and more than some leather! My 7A28 is almost NOS condition and I’m too scared to wear it (and it’s a hair puller 😢!!) These 3 Seikos were all bought from Japan and are just lovely. The GQ is immaculate and has this superb diamond dust textured dial, plus accuracy comparable to the Gshock. My current favourite is the 56KS which is temporarily resting my GS itch and is looking like transitioning to my permanent collection as it’s just so lovely on the wrist. I’m treating it to a green suede strap that I think will set it off perfectly. The Skyliner is manual wind and amuses me for the ritual (although you’ll note I forgot for the last 5 days!). It needs a new chapter ring then I’ll decide if it’s for the sale pile…
On the bottom row…newer stuff. I love the Smiths, it’s clean and clear, with a classic look, but I’ll be honest and admit I really want an Explorer 1. The BB58 needs little introduction or explanation. I’ve paired mine with a Vanguard rubber strap and they complement each other beautifully. The Hamilton was a 30th gift from my wife and was a daily wear for 5 years before I branched out….its probably had less than a month in the last 5 years. Steeldive and Gshock are both for when I’m nervous to wear something nicer/more fragile.
That’s a lovely box of treats. Nice variety of shapes, colours and applications. I’m always particularly pleased to see a collection that doesn’t follow the ABC of watch collecting… (sub, speedy,SMP). GS is the pick of the bunch for me. 👌🏻
Edit. Oh “my collection is complete” 🤣🤣 You say that now. Give it 3 months. You’ll get the itch.
