apple tv and android; the android one launched in 2016ish

no you're right; it was taken off the app stores. see: https://github.com/x0a/uBO-YouTube/issues/57

there was this but i've never used it so i don't know how well it works: https://gist.github.com/teknogeek/62aaaba9d3eb5d5e11964968b0d6f53b

at least the old twitter app was full of fun videos; now it's just partisan political garbage as a rumble clone.

i mean phones are mostly incremental now than they were in 2011 anyway and google has made a lot of inroads to bake major changes into the play store to avoid carrier issues, which is better anyway.

isn't it basically the old twitter app with less content people would actually want to watch and more rubbish partisan political content?

because mastodon because dismissed twitter users concerns and thoughts the first exodus and bluesky implemented them in a way that's closer to twitter.

mastodon had their chance during the first exodus but they refused to listen to what twitter users wanted and shot down things like lists, quote tweets, and privacy controls.

mastodon is very gatekeeper-y
