The Fortran is tight, works, and has 50 years of field testing.

Much rather work on something old and proven than new and slapdash.

Pop up won’t close on Firefox Mobile.

Lynx was my favorite browser circa 2001 because pop up ads were everywhere and adblock tech was in its infancy.

They still teach analog clocks in kindergarten or 1st grade. All my kids learned.

You want a 100mm box to have walls 25mm thick?

What are you trying to store?

Can you share the author/topic?

Wikipedia welcomes expert contributors, but people editing articles about themselves is a big no-no. You’re also not allowed to do promotion of your pet theories, even if you’re “expert”.

Use enough wall loops such that no infill is used.

[–] deegeese@sopuli.xyz 3 points 4 days ago (4 children)

Bins/boxes should have thicker walls and no infill. Real boxes don't use infill unless the material lacks compressive strength, as in corrugated cardboard boxes.

If there’s infill it means the walls are thinner than the part design called for.

Context: Searching for a new senior level software development job over a 9 week period in summer 2025.

  • Focused mostly on data engineering and backend roles that are in-person or hybrid in the SF Bay Area.
  • Leads from recruiters on LinkedIn were much more likely to lead to interviews+offers.
  • The winning offer came through my personal network.
  • I mostly used Hiring.cafe for prospecting. They're a scraper with an interface I didn't hate.

I have a bunch of plain text recipe files on a NAS. If a family member wants to cook something, they ask me to print them a copy.

I’m looking for a simple as possible way to put them on a local web server via a Docker image or similar.

Basically all I need is to have http://recipes.local/ show the list of files, then you can click one to view and or print it.

Don’t want logins. Don’t need ability to edit files. Want something read-only I can set and forget while I continue to manage the content directly on the NAS.

What would you suggest?

Made with cubes of stale homemade sourdough, using this recipe, doubled:

I mean it’s right there in his name. Also I did a book report on him in middle school. Actually he was an ineffective president who steered America right into the great depression, but he had a good one-liner.
