You're right, would have been so much better to go to the Hornets, a well run team well know for developing talent. Would have been much better off

You are punishing LeBron for this longevity.
Developing as a player takes a lot more than playing with a good guard. The Spurs have one of the best track records in the history of the NBA at developing players. The other 4 teams in the top 5 do not, Portland wouldn't have been terrible thought. Charlotte would have been absolutely terrible for his development long term compared to the Spurs. They are notoriously bad at drafting and developing players.
