I just have slack running on my phone. If I'm at IKEA instead of my computer and someone wants something, I'll just tell them I'll take a look at it after lunch. If I'm out biking in the afternoon, I just tell them I'll take a look at it tomorrow morning.

If someone wants something really urgently, I'll tell them to give me thirty minutes. Thirty minutes later I'll tell them that the results are inconclusive and this will need more time, for which I have scheduled a block for tomorrow.

Same in Hungary. Tourists are charged out the wazoo for it, especially the two or three most well known and picturesque ones, but locals can get a prescription for discounted entry from their doctors by just saying "oh, my rheuma is acting up".

You don't need a lawyer in small claims. Can also go with a paralegal or just represent yourself.

But that's not why the small claims is backlogged anyway. I have actually no idea why it's backlogged. I've been a defendant in a small claims court case since 2021 and nothing has progressed except for an arbitration hearing in 2022.

Edit: 2020s, not early 2000s. Fuck, it hasn't been twenty years yet.

Yes and no. Supposedly the resolution is not in 4K or even 1080p, but something much lower that is still enough to identify content, like shows, movies and ads, but not enough to make out minute detail.

I've read a creepy pasta somewhere from this guy's pov, that somehow discovered a computer at one of the businesses they took over as a contracted IT, think car wash or something, and they've ended up discovering a computer in a closet that was networked with other computers in the area to share CSAM and other smut. I forgot how the story ended as it was fairly long, but they were describing the technical non-sophistication of the whole network in great detail. The PCs were basically just networked windows xp workstations or something, without any sort of password protection on them or their shared folders.

Says who?

You are allowed to take screenshots of Netflix, even under the DMCA on DRM protected material. You are not allowed to use it commercially though. Personal use only.

I dunno. I was able to open my wife's Sony Xperia to DIY battery swap, and then break (and fail to resolder) the antenna in the process. Can't be that hard on a smart TV.

No, the point here is that if you use the "smart" features, which includes running apps from their appstore, like Netflix or Disney+, it will not send the data. But if you connect your laptop via HDMI and then play Netflix in your browser, it will, because it's not smart enough to recognize and differentiafe video and audio data coming in through that port. I don't think it matters if it's a DRM enabled browser or not. It should be acting as a second monitor only in those cases, nothing more.

Just like their search engine, making you scroll down further and potentially not even wanting you to leave their page, maps is trying to send you into the vicinity of more physically so you can go into their store and tell them that you found them along a route suggestion.

I don't think the above is true. At this point I'm just trying to give them ideas on how to enshittify it more.

Did you go beyond the headline?

They found the smart TVs did not appear to upload any screenshots or audio data when streaming from Netflix or other third-party apps, mirroring YouTube content streamed on a separate phone or laptop or when sitting idle. But the smart TVs did upload snapshots when showing broadcasts from the TV antenna or content from an HDMI-connected device.

You mean like Steam Machine?

I think the mice and keyboard requiring "Chrome" is actually due to WebHID. WebHID is only supported in Chromium browsers. Now here's the fun part, this thread has VIA mentioned a couple times and even though VIA/QMK/ZMK are FOSS, the usevia.app website requires a, you guessed it, WebHID capable browser.

That said, don't use Logitech keyboards. Sell it to a sucker on local and buy any of the above compatible keyboards instead. Drop CSTM, Luminkey, Keychron, Akko, QK NEO, CK Bakaneko, there's probably couple more that are affordable and quality. Just don't fall for GMMK, Ducky and other pseudo-gaming crap. Also visit !mechanicalkeyboards@lemmy.ml and ask questions.

Not sure about your trackball problem.
