Franz has never been a three point guy. I think he averages like 30 maybe per year. Mo actually might have better stats than him - but that’s partially a spacing issue with our team - and how awesome he is at the Eurostep.
It’s very rare that Franz gets an open three look to begin with so most of his are contested. When he actually gets an open look they are beautiful though. :)
The Orlando Magic announcers actually explained it pretty well. It’s not the hanging when Paolo is running by him - it’s when his legs come down, what they are expecting you to do is come back down and kinda hop down like you’re coming off a swing. What Tatum does it pump up with his knees to his chest before releasing. THAT is the action that could damage the rim and that little flourish will get you called every time.
I don’t agree totally, but it was interesting to see what the ref called vs what the announcers said vs what everyone on reddit is commenting on.
I mean Franz wasn’t a slouch on Tatum tho either
I was surprised they kept him after last year - his coaching in the Miami games was super suspect and it seemed like he had lost control of the players - if he ever had it at all. I thought maybe it was just because he looked opposite of Spo who is one of the greatest of all time but I’m seeing him make these same mistakes against us.
The thing is the players are good enough to bail him out a lot of the times, but they are never going to win a championship if he keeps doing this .
And then calling soft fouls when they do call them. The reffing has been fucking awful this game.
I’m not super mad that the Celtics are getting calls, we are playing terribly.
What I am mad about is that they aren’t consistent on both sides of the court.
