well they could, I'm just saying Framework has no control over it

Whenever I click the trackpad, I have to push it down a fair bit before the actual click starts. It's like it has two clicks, to a degree that significantly affects usability. I am pretty sure, but not completely sure that it's gotten worse in the two or so weeks I've had it. Can I repair this myself or am I replacing it?

this is an AMD issue and not a Framework issue, so that's not one they can fix unfortunately

they don't lock critical threads about stuff that isn't illegal stuff, ToS-breaking stuff, or generally people who haven't done their research being morons

additionally, do yourself a favor and get two sticks of RAM instead of one. even if you only get 16gb, get 2x8 instead of 1x16.

First doubt is... will the company still be around in 2-3 years when I'd consider a CPU update and still supporting current models?

no one knows for sure, but worst case you ditch it and buy a new laptop, just like literally any other brand.

Second is whether I want to buy a laptop that's such a basic clamshell design... in 2-3 years will I want a 2-in-1 or a smaller footprint or different screen ratio etc.?

for me personally, tall screen + clamshell is ideal, I've never wanted anything else. but ultimately, same as point 1, if you decide you want something else you can just get a different laptop, same as any other laptop.

so for both 1 and 2, your absolute worst case is the same as every other laptop on the market which doesn't seem like an issue to me
