I was gonna say, refurbished hdds work perfectly for this. Now, I am kind of reaching that point where a NAS with multiple 20tb hdds is in order but generally you can get pretty far with hdds.

That's even more complicated. Not only do some people struggle with the brain being connected to the body, there's lots of people who think that you consciousness is disconnected from your brain.
Now it's true that we cannot exactly trace thoughts traveling through their respective neurons, but we definitely know that that's all that thoughts are. Tiny electric impulses rushing through the brain and creating associative ideas and concepts. And then we call them thoughts.
So yeah people get weird about it,I think they won't stop unless we manage to map out all neurons, which I don't think will happen anytime soon.
Why tho
Well when I tried it it sucked. It's solid for replacing Premiere Pro but AfterFX has some different functions that davinci Resolve just doesn't offer out of the box. I had a real bad day trying to build an audio reactor. I actually tried installing reactor for like 3 days and alternatively get familiar with the scripting API. I had to give up because it started to eat into my daily schedule.
I envy you
- VST / full plugin support Ableton or FL support (I'm sorry but they are just way easier to use and that's kind of important for casual users)
- AfterFX support or feasible alternative
- better audio interface drivers
- easier firewall like net limiter
- generelly making some more things controllable in an interface rather than only the terminal
I am not comfortable giving up my whole music production trajectory just because.
Yeah I tried, it's not possible. Davinci Resolve is not a good replacement for AfterFX. There is no way to do easy scripting in runtime. Everything is offline and it's a function, so audio reactors are impossible or extremely awkward. The effects are good but that's not what I use afterfx for.
Yeah audio is an issue as well. Moreover, I have gone through my programs list multiple times and about 20% of the vital ones are non replaceable on Linux, or only through tiring manual configuration and subsequent debugging.
Now on the other hand I have a friend who only does minimal work on his notebook. I told him to try out cachyos and he loves it, especially because the few programs he needs (mainly affinity photo) has a workaround. Now it still involved a janky install script which was our 3rd attempt, but now it kinda works. I just wish I was more convinced that it is stable now as well.
Well
28/2 = 14; 14 + 7 = 21
So yes. Both yes.
Yeah blender is huge for Linux distros, so much in fact that it has become part of the industry standard
If only all of the software I need worked in Linux without debugging for days.
VST plugins, after effects, Ableton, ...
Linux looking so hot rn
