They love tiktok because the algorithm works extremely well.

No other social media actually targets you as well as tiktok does. Instagram is constantly trying to shove you in the direction of whatever makes them the most money even if it's entirely unrelated to your interests. YouTube is clueless to what you like with shorts. Tiktok surfaces new content that is basically unseen anywhere else (thousands of views not millions) that perfectly fits your interests.

Could other platforms do the same thing? Probably: but they're too short sighted to do so.

Coke in glass or metal is indistinguishable.

Let's just use the leverage of it being so few companies to force them to do what's right.

It's not big cities: it's primarily 3 things

  1. Wildfires (see also: climate change)
  2. Energy generation and heavy industry (generally done rurally)
  3. Cars

Something as simple as living near an interstate can result in significant lung and heart damage over time. Brake dust is carcinogenic and the partial combustion products, particularly from diesel, are extremely toxic.

Usually if a city has particularly bad air quality it is because it is placed near a land formation that collects or traps bad air from another location. That's what's particularly foul about Salt Lake City or Bakersfield, for example.

That's because in the real world we're all fighting to escape the threat of homelessness and starvation which is a constant spectre haunting any "techie" who is paying attention enough to see what's going on.

Personally speaking: when me and mine are safe I'll be dedicating 100% of my remaining life to outreach, teaching and non-profit work.

But as long as you're dependant on another man to feed you every week you're not safe: you're helpless. That's true regardless of if that man is a non-profit or if it's a megacorp.

It's achieved a lot of people talking about it and has achieved damage to the Brand.

Which is better than nothing.

The only good argument I've seen for sharerows is that cars shouldn't be on the streets they're on anyway. Make them vehicular dead ends with narrow roadways and then only local drivers will bother.

That's the only place it's OK to have bike and car traffic mix. Everywhere else needs dedicated infra. If you can't do grade separation then there need to be barriers or bollards instead.

Every road should have 2 paths for pedestrians, 2 paths for bikes, 1+ lanes of cars, maximum of 2 each way.

And even then I'm hesitant on the 2 car thing. Only if it's an actual road and not a stroad.

Ducking autocorrect

It's a massive scrapper?

Like it engages in scrappy flights? I guess that's one way to frame fighting with discord but I'd personally see them as fairly comparable weight classes.

Or did you mean scraper like vacuuming up data* off of everyone who visits?

  1. Autism, personally speaking.

  2. I knew it was a metaphor, but it's also a lie and does not actually happen.

  3. That's actually the result of "looking it up", which was the instruction.

What is it with you that makes you so incapable of reasoning that someone might know what it means and also want to point out that it's bullshit?

The fact that he's still alive that makes it safe to make.

"Autism can sometimes manifest as an exaggeration of common human experience but the fact that neurotypicals experience something doesn't invalidate the autistic pathology"

Similarly doesn't roll off the tongue... Hmm
