The YouTube team at Google isn't all outsourced and generally Google uses it's top talent for the money making side of the business
The people in the ads side are some of the best around. The problem is: they don't necessarily care about ad blockers.
My laptop came pre installed with Firefox and ublock origin. Google Chrome had ad blocking in it as well. The devs in the company don't like ads any more than anyone else... Also ads are a major security risk, and using ad blocking is just good opsec.

The question is why a new codebase in greenfield is still using basic Java 11 on a new 2023 project.
Yeah it can be slightly hairy because Java does a terrible job with nullability. I've also done an incremental migration of an android codebase to Kotlin.
Personally I think being forced to declare the nullability of a field is something backend developers should do more of. It helps eliminate some of the foot guns that otherwise get built into the code base.
I'm a bit of a kotlin fanboy though, I'll admit.
The video pretty concisely summarizes the latest scientific findings which say that the filter bubble does less to radicalize people than being confronted with opposing beliefs.

Hell I firmly believe that there are no developers who write their best code at the end of the week. 30 hours of coding a week should be a hard limit at companies.
Sure but you can also just drop kotlin into any Java codebase. It's a single line maven import and the entire company already uses Intellij
