Oh yeah that's true as well. Like it's more accepted when a 60 year old dates a 50 year old than when a 30 year old dates a 20 year old. It's the same gap, but more frequently seen. That's the thing with cumulative numbers!! The more they go up the smaller the ll% difference in

Pretty cool. I think that means Pass is cheap AF for them run to consider doing this worth it. Or maybe it is more like a loss-leader like Costco's 1$ hotdogs to get people in their ecosystem

The only reason that I (and I suspect many many other people) pay for it is because of the value proposition of not having ads on Youtube + Youtube Music for slightly more than Spotify. They better be careful about their subscriptions because their service is also available for free. If I feel like im being ripped off, instead of them getting 12$ a month they will get 0$ and I will still get to use the service. It's different from Netflix in that in their case there is no free tier to go back to.

Little did you know that the separatist movement is largely a left-wing one, driven mainly by the PQ (center-left) and QS (left). The center-right (CAQ, PLQ) and right (Conservative) parties oppose the separation of Québec and want to stay in Canada.

You seem to think that we are some kind of crazy schizos that want to eliminate every foreign person around, and its absolutely false. We just want to be able to keep our language and culture alive. 8M people in Québec vs 400M in Canada + USA, and the rate of french-speaking people is declining at an alarming rate. Think about that for a second. All the people saying we are racists and whatnot don't seem to realize that being a minority is not reserved for people with dark enough skin colour. In the end, you are the racist ones, trying to assimilate us for 400 years. Bunch of hypocrites.

Québec: the only province expected to NOT vote conservative in the next federal elections. Also the province expected to vote for a center-left government for the next provincial elections. But go on I guess...

I mean... Yeah, the official language is French, any other language is provided at best effort. The only places that are officially bilingual in Canada are New-Brunswick and the federal government, and even that would be a stretch (federal government). Would you expect to be treated as a first-class citizen while not speaking a word of Italian in Italy?

Stay with ubuntu unless you have an issue with ubuntu itself, because the grass isn't greener on the other side despite what some people might say. The only real difference that you'll find are different default settings/programs and the time it takes for a software update to reach your final linux install.

Some distros like Ubuntu prefer slightly older versions that have been proven to be stable/bug free while others like Arch mostly go for the newest everything where available, at the cost of stability. If you like something a little bit more balanced, you have Fedora (which is my preference).

The beauty of Linux is that most software will work no matter the distribution you use. If the reason you want to use Linux Mint instead of regular Ubuntu is the desktop environment, you can at any time install the Cinammon desktop (the one used by Mint), here's an article that guides you through the process: https://itsfoss.com/install-cinnamon-on-ubuntu/

banks will do everything in their power to restrict who can use their services in the name of security but are absolutely fine with 6-char password size limits and SMS 2FA

Like... In my opinion, a hole is when it does not go through, and when it does, it becomes a tunnel. A straw is a tunnel. A hole in a piece of paper is a tunnel. A bowl is a hole.

Hello all, for a few weeks/months now, my computer has stopped going into suspend mode. Here is what happens when putting it to sleep (using GNOME's power menu) or using systemctl suspend:

  1. Display turns off, peripherals turn off (keyboard lights off etc), fans spin up before sleep as usual
  2. Fans go back to idle speed, computer stays on
  3. Have to press the keyboard, wake the display up and go in the power menu again to suspend it (from the lock screen), and it works every time like this.

I have no idea what could be preventing suspend and what I could find online did not really help a lot. I don't think it is a USB device because I tried unplugging most of them except my mouse or my keyboard and it still did not work, and the second time on the lock screen it always suspends like intended

I just got the update on my phone on Google play, Firefox now supports 3rd party password managers for passkeys (on android 14+). Just tried it, and I got prompted with my 3rd party password manager, so it works!

Why is my hair smooth and soft compared to the other hairs?

UPDATE IN COMMENTS!!

Hey there, I don't know if any of you noticed something similar recently, but I have noticed my cursors have gone HUGE, like 2x what it should be at least. I think this is related to the affected apps using a beta version of Libadwaita 1.6, but I just wanted to confirm here before I create an issue in the repo. I use 200% scaling, GNOME 45, Fedora 39. Does anybody else have this problem? Thanks!!

How it should look (in Pods, firefox and most other apps)

How it looks in Ptyxis

How it looks in Adwaita Demo (latest update, which bumped the libadwaita version to 1.6)

Rockstar has revealed the GTA 6 trailer earlier than expected, probably because it was leaked on Twitter. I think it looks amazing!!

I can't wait to see what the community does with the images and what we will know almost for sure before the release
