My take that Kidd would win coach of the year got me laughed out of /r/mavericks, but it's reasonable at this point. I don't think he wins it over Ime or Mosley, but he's in the conversation.

I'd like to see Embiid win a championship... on the Mavs.

Nuggets with Jokic carrying are turning into the 21 Mavs with Luka carrying the offense.

It's the Clippers. Mavs very well may win by 40.

NO ONE thinks of this, but the Mavs traded two first round lottery picks to move up two slots in the draft to get Luka. Luka had some buzz, but I don't think he had "two first round lottery picks for him" buzz by anyone.

Mavs trading young star point guard Devin Harris for an aging Jason Kidd in a pretty desperate gamble for the title. It was a trade pretty roundly criticized at the time.

Gotta admit, I knew they worked well, but I had no idea there were this many connections in the first dozen games. Liively's massive wingspan and good hands are a killer combination.

He's checked all those boxes so far in Dallas.

Kidd gets absolutely hated on in /r/mavericks, but in Dallas he has been the very definition of a player's coach. Everyone loves him, and finds him relatable and the team culture has always been good under him, even if the team hasn't been that good. Kyrie has stated repeatedly he likes playing under Kidd, even joking with a smile on his face about having practices on days he wishes they had off.

Which is a long way of saying that Kyrie seems very comfortable in Dallas (he also has a seemingly pleasant relationship with the local media), with his role next to Luka and as a veteran, and with the Mavs org.

The 1949-1950 New York Knicks had 100% of their players not play for another NBA team before that season.

Why do you think MORE incentives are needed? We've already had teams put their stars back in to boost the margin of victory for tournament reasons.

I've seen no evidence that the in-season tournament isn't being taken pretty seriously by the teams and coaches.

The real story is that all the fans of their teams feel their rookie should be higher on the list, with Spurs fans thinking Wemby should be DPOY in addtion to ROTY.

Which is really great, because it means a lot of teams made exceptional choices on draft night in ways that helped their teams AND that this was a fantastic draft.

Ah, I see you haven’t watched the Mavs play yet.
