As @perishthethought@piefed.social said

  • prepare to watch the movie itself whatever way you can/want (your own physical media, locally stored file, whichever streaming service offers it in your area)
  • everyone starts the movie when the 'host' posts "press play now" on Mastodon
  • participants proceed to post about it on Mastodon, including in their posts the hashtag #MondayActionMovie (and sometimes also a hashtag with the name of the movie)

For #MondayActionMovie, the rotating 'host' of the party (the person who chooses the movie) often includes a streaming link in their Mastodon announcement or in the event details in the watch party calendar (go down to the calendar, scroll calendar to the relevant date, then find and click on the event name; a popup will show more info on the event. E.g. a copy of the movie on YouTube https://youtu.be/xxeDmjgSS1I )

1. Type of key?

The brand is Phillips but they make various types. The type here is (not sure of the correct jargon) without vertical ridges and notches. And both sides of the key are identical.

I've looked at some diagrams of key types and I'm not sure exactly. Is it a "dimple key"? Something else?

2. How to remove broken part from lock?

Location: Door between bedroom and garden.

Situation:

  • Someone bent the key a little, and it was stuck, couldn't get it out. On the inside of the door. At that point still able to lock and unlock from the inside only. Using other key from the outside does nothing, doesn't even turn.

  • I tried gently straightening it but it immediately snapped.

  • Now: can still open and close the door using the handle. Can still, with difficulty, lock and unlock the door (from inside only) by carefully pressing the head of the key against what is in the lock and turning.

A lot of info online for removing broken key blades from locks are for the "traditional" kind of key with vertical ridges and notches.

I have a screwdriver that fits all the screws and I can access all sides of the lock (inside, outside, edge), but I'm not sure if that's relevant. I've tried tweezers but it's too snug.

If I need more tools or equipment, I'll get them tomorrow.

Well, that timeline has already been derailed.

Viewing above in Lemmy (Alexandrite), still no sound, although a small plus symbol appears when I hover over "orion".

TOS S01E04 "The Naked Time"

Where the crew contract an infection that brings out Irish stereotypes :)

Maybe nominate it for #Monsterdon and show it to dozens/hundreds of people at once. (Live cast on https://miru.miyaku.media/ )

Looking here, it doesn't seem to have been shown yet.

I like it rather than love it, but wow! 16%!

Lost River (2015)

I went into it with zero knowledge or expectation and was held by it from beginning to end (even when I knew it was blatantly emulating David Lynch etc, I didn't care, I was gripped). Only to look it up online afterwards and find out that critics and viewers kind of hate it.

So I thought I'd post the Shatner version and found this video.

Talking about using Mastodon in a web browser, not a phone app.

Using the standard web interface is awful for me. It took me embarrassingly long to realize it was showing me replies above showing me what they were replying to... sometimes. Often I can never actually find the post that was being replied to. Can't find anything in Settings to fix it.

Quickly tried Phanpy and it seems do things right on first glance, but soon I realize that again, I'm being shown replies without being shown the OP. At least I can eventually get to see the OP if I click on two things (first, faded message above reply, then "Go to Top"). Again, can't find anything in Settings to fix it.

I want something like below, that shows me (with no clicking required) the OPs in reverse chronological order but grouped (with obvious graphical indication like a box, borders or something) with its replies below in chronological order:

  • Original Post 2
    • Reply 2.1
    • Reply 2.2

  • Original Post 1
    • Reply 1.1
    • Reply 1.2

Is there a frontend that does this?

What would be a font matching the lettering on the T-shirt in this image?

Also, so that I can search fonts better in future, what key words could be used to describe it? I know it's serif, but anything else?

screencap of Tom in "I shot JR" t-shirt from the TV show Father Ted

EDIT: Thanks, everyone! Looks like it's Cooper Black.

Key words for this type of font seem to be:

  • serif
  • rounded serifs
  • blurred serifs
  • ultra-bold
  • display
  • old-style
  • heavy
  • black face (yes, I know)
  • long ascenders
  • small counters

And if you're wondering "WTF was that about?!?"

I asked a chatbot

"What's the opposite of cause and effect?"

Answer

"Randomness or Chance: In some contexts, the opposite of cause and effect can be seen as randomness or chance, where events occur without any discernible pattern or cause."

So then I asked:

give me four randomly chosen scenes from the Star Trek franchise

And then:

give me four randomly chosen quotes from the Star Trek franchise

And there you go. Bet you ain't seen that a dozen, a hundred times before!
