To be fair, the Moonswatch was an industry changing event. Although I think you’re right. I didn’t know anything about Blancpain and the prices are high enough that anyone in the swatch price bracket is not even close to being in the Blancpain price bracket. Omega was a big price jump but nowhere near as big of a jump.

I would go with the SRPD65. This is based on your request for watches that watch enthusiasts will care more about even though 99.9% of people are not watch enthusiasts. You would be more than fine with either of these though.

-For people in the know, automatic movements get more respect than quartz. It shouldn't matter, but he will get a little more street cred.

-The "SKX style" is pretty famous among watch people. It's also just easier to read.

-Depending on how big his wrist is the other watch might be a little too big, but I have a pretty strong preference for smaller watches so that could just be my bias talking.

Looks great. Smaller cases are getting trendy and as a small wristwatch person I’m here for it.

I’m general I like smaller cases because it gives the strap a bit more attention and I think really looks great.

They don’t get a ton of media attention. Lately they’ve had some from Theo and Harris but they to seem to be a bit polarizing. Another reason is they have basically no retailers in the US and like it or not. We are a huge market. Finally, like most watch companies. Their website is absolute dogshit. As an American it’s my only way to see their watches and it’s a nightmare to find anything. Filter by case size options: Small (<30mm) Medium (31-43mm) Large (>44mm). I’m exaggerating but that’s the kind of issues I have on almost every watch company’s website.

Just a note. This isn’t replacing the old design. I messaged them to make sure the old design wasn’t a limited edition and I would need to buy one now and he told me it was a permanent addition to their lineup.
