I have a self directed tfsa which is doing OK.
Free trades. Fractional. Auto re-investing the dividends.
Super simple. Though their search is a bit lacking.
And their tax fillng.... Holy shit it's the easiest tax filing software I have ever used.

Sidenote: my few Linux machines are all running on HDDs that are each at least 10 years old. With additional internal and external 5" and external 2.5" drives that are just as old. My oldest is probably about 15.

15 or so years ago I experienced this. Not in federal, but the conditions were so bad at some points the floors were wet due to condensation dripping from the walls.
Trapped in a 6x8 room with 3 people and no ventilation other than the food port - during a heat wave - for days. They wouldn't even let us out to shower.
The entire system is evil.
