Dwight went from averaging 17 and 10 to like 5 and 5 and people praised him for “making a leap” with the Lakers. It was actually insane to listen to.
Same thing with Westbrook. He’s gonna put up like 10,6,5 and people are going to rave about how great he’s playing. People were way too hard on him with the Lakers.
People talk about the prime Lebron years as if he never lost a game. Yes Lebron is the best player in each scenario, but basketball is a team sport. The best version of Lebron went 1-3 against an aging Dirk and Duncan.
Team composition matters more than people think. The Cavs were top heavy but aside from 2016, the rest of the squad didn’t show up. It really comes down to which team gets hot. If JR Smith + the rest of the role players play like they did in 2016, it’s a wrap. But if they don’t, I’d expect both the Celtics and Bucks to win.
