be the change you want to see. offer alternatives to subs pissed about over moderation, ads and bot activity. some instances still let you create your own communities, like mine https://moist.catsweat.com

awwwesome. think of the world with this ending... no shitty rambo sequels... no farcical references to those movies. hell, stallones career might have taken a different turn.

id go a step further and say you need to draw a sub to a specific community. its hard moving users though when reddit actually attempts to prevent it by banning you for trying.

of course a sheriff is allowed to fake paperwork on human killing devices.

acab

working for less than a month... allowed to walk around with a human killing device.

hairdressers require more certification and supervision than police 'officers'.

its a religion created by a sci-fi writer for monetary gain. he told everyone he was going to do so, and then did it.. but just as with every religion once there is a critical mass of idiots, people think it's "real".

thank you for this! im grabbin nighthawks now, it sounds like a great double-feature. i vaguely remember cop land im going to have to give that a rewatch also.

i agree about his movies.. hes not the best actor and has made some ..interesting.. choices

What do you think of the original ending - where Troutman kills Rambo?

whatchootalkinbout?! is that on video somewhere or just from the book?!

i would love that ending. the whole movie is him being the last of his kind. that ending would be bleak, but appropriate.. wrapping up the entire debacle. im not sure if im referring to the the movie or the war.

spot on!

OK, Colonel Troutman overacted it all a bit, but he clearly told us who John Rambo was.

oh yeaaaah im rewatching it right now and youre absolutely correct.. troutman does get a bit... theatrical.

arguably (prove me wrong!) one of stallones best movies.

the entire subsequent rambo franchise feels like a farce compared to the original.. they dont even feel part of the same universe.

gritty.. realistic without being over the top (remember that one?!). a good movie makes you feel, and this movie makes me so angry. the revenge is almost justified.

being the early 80s the political fallout of vietnam was still hot on everyones minds. ostracized vets a serious reality.

the small town redneck sheriff always makes for a great villain. that ignorant evil is a valid antagonist even today. brian dennehy was amazing. you just want to punch him in the face. if you look close you can spot a baby faced david caruso.

so what do you peeps think of this masterpiece?

dude, youre still alive? congrats

A firehose relay takes TB's of storage

which is similar nonsense which ActivityPub has with replicating whole datasets everywhere.. cept its one company controlling the whole shebang. its a failure of design.

death is wasted on the dead

e. i was indeed wet when i had this thought

with the recent death of the shows theme-song singer jack jones, i thought id give this a rewatch having not seen it since it aired..

i found it more entertaining than i expected.. at least so far. im not sure how it made it to 10 seasons, but some highlights ive noted...

  • cast is introduced as crew, and not even by character name except julie!

  • at least 3 or 4 celebrity appearances every episode! its kinda neat seeing all these old stars out of their element in small vignettes. seriously every star you can think of of this era seems to have popped on.

  • the ship is so freakin tiny. you have to think there are mega-yachts bigger these days

  • writing can be funny. the relationship 'advice' is somewhat dated, but not inappropriate at times. 'family ties' mom (MBB) is in a centerfold the first episode!

so far it could have been titled 'the apology boat' due to the wraps ups of most stories almost completely entail confession and apology.

The 23-year-old said she was in the 'worst pain she'd ever felt'.

what an amazing dramedy.

especially the first several seasons. so many wonderful characters, it really has something for everyone.

buttery voiced john corbetts seamless radio-narration and its philosophical bent fits right in with a town full of quirky personalities. the indigenous population playing a wonderful straight-man to the town.

it even holds up well. the remoteness denotes a lack of tech that isnt too far out of place today.

this is one of those shows where you just want to be a part of it.

it could also never be replicated/rebooted successfully... lighting striking twice and all that.

anyone else have such fond memories of northern exposure? im about to start my per-decade rewatch.

its so ubiquitous it feels like it was a requirement..

I really liked 'the cosby show'. it was a significant change in the demonstration of a successful, minority family. its funny. it also holds up well; the writing did not date itself too much to the era.

but, ya know... Cosby. can you separate the artist from the art? a part of me feels like i should still be able to enjoy the show even though he is a terrible person.

thoughts?
