Yeah, I think people who want to show still photography are heading back to flickr for the most part. IG really only wants you to post video clips now, facebook is kind of a wasteland except for friends/family, no idea what is up with imgur these days, 500px is only bots. Flickr has a decent UI, not much spam, doesn't look dumb, and you can host whatever you want at high resolution, and even get some minor amount of exposure.

I don't think they actually did that, or not to very many people, they just threatened to. If the account hadn't been signed in to in 10 years, then maybe it was on the list for purging.

I hate everything about how camera functionality is going to end up being a bunch of menu choices you have to subscribe to.

It's an absurd way to do business, but why on earth wouldn't they have asked the cost before proceeding?

Yes, plenty will. People should not assume theirs will though without making absolutely sure, though. Athos is pretty widely recommended for people wanting to insure photo/video gear specifically, separate from homeowners.

when i asked mine about this the small print was that they only cover gear for which you’re the original owner and only until it’s 3 years old, then it’s no longer covered.

I’ve never heard of this person and after reading this, I’m very happy about that.

There's an infinite number of things you can do with creative lighting and tabletop setups. One of my professors Carl Chiarenza has done book after book of really interesting work just with things like paper, foil, and pieces of metal and wire.
