Some distro actually do not map www-data user to UID 33, so if you're on one of those distro, changing file owner to UID 33 won't help you. Pretty sure Ubuntu use UID 33 though, but I've seen people on other distros getting bitten by this. Also, some container systems can remap file ownership when mounting a volume.

My main concern of using a phone as a server is the battery. It'll get spicy after a year of constantly being plugged in, and the phone usually doesn't work without a battery attached.

One thing to watch for is file permissions. Just make sure it's all set to www-data and you're golden.

Nice! When moon travels become common occurrence in the future, programmers will hate dealing with time even more. This list will probably need to be updated soon to add moon time madness (and perhaps time dilation madness): https://gist.github.com/timvisee/fcda9bbdff88d45cc9061606b4b923ca

I believe you can run the patcher on desktop with the revanced-cli. Or you can just download the pre-patched YouTube here: https://github.com/revanced-apks/build-apps/releases , though I recommend patching it yourself instead of downloading apk from a source not affiliated with revanced team.

I thought the white house actually runs their own mastodon instance when I read the headline. That would mark the point where mastodon reached mainstream use which is an incredible milestone.

How is bazzite on steam deck? Any issue with games that not present when using steam os?

[–] redcalcium@lemmy.institute 2 points 7 months ago

Should be totally doable, when I'm retired and all I do is playing games all day. Can still open a web browser from steam overlay to check emails and stuff.

WCK said it had co-ordinated the convoy's movements with the IDF when it was hit.

WTF?! How could this happen? Is IDF that incompetent and must hit anything that moves?

Packaging applications is a hard work so they obviously want the devs to do it themselves. For example, canonical push hard so their users use snap for firefox because it's maintained by firefox devs themselves. Firefox updates very often and has complex build system, so I think canonical is tired of allocating significant resource to support it and want to stop maintaining firefox package if they can.
