I would. While pickling is a good way to preserve food, the food itself needs to stay submerged in the pickling solution if not refrigerated. Acids used in pickling solutions are extremely hostile environments for bacteria.

Big caveat: Pickling and fermentation processes can be very different. One process may work to keep food safe for years, but others may only last weeks or days once the food is exposed to air.

Refrigeration slows down bacterial growth enough for days or weeks of storage, but eventually, robust bacteria will take over if there is just a little bit of air circulation. Warmer conditions with occasional air circulation and some kind of food source just increases the risk of bacteria development exponentially.

Before refrigeration was a thing, picking or salt packing was king. It works well, but it's easy to screw up. Heck, I think authentic/traditional kimchi production never uses refrigeration and relies on the acids as well as CO2 and basic ethanol production to stay ~~sterile~~ safe.

These days, just throw everything in the fridge. It's easier and safer because you don't know exactly what preserving processes were used.

I remember seeing some testing videos of Baba Yaga's being used as launch platform for other drones and according to Wikipedia, it can function as a control repeater as well.

But yeah, the concept is solid regardless of the "how". If your carrier drone is only half way to the front (or just over) and used to launch kamikaze drones, the risk is probably minimal but probably more time consuming than anything else.

With good directional antennas, the correct frequencies and analog signals and maybe last-mile AI/image recognition, 30-50 miles should be easy. You could even use a high altitude drone as a signal repeater for even more range with minimal latency.

For perspective: I could communicate with ham radio repeaters using a 5W transmitter and a basic whip antenna at about 150 miles, at 220/440mhz, because the repeater was in a high enough spot, on a distant mountain. Granted, that was only voice but it's still a good representation of what kind of range you can get.

Digital signals at higher frequencies wouldn't have much of a chance.

Edit: We are entering a period of high solar activity as well. While atmospheric bounce is usually reserved for other bands (usually 10m, or ~29mhz) it can absolutely be a thing with higher frequencies now.

There are probably multiple people that want to use that as a vanity tag number so alphanumeric variation is a way to get around that.

It would explain the poor memory I get when I smoke. You can't remember something that hasn't happened yet, so it naturally increases your ability to remember more. (Taps forehead...)

"Your TV has become a digital billboard."

It's been a digital billboard for at least 40 years of my life. Radio was no different, so be sure to drink your Ovaltine.

Have you never seen a commercial before? Cheap subsidized hardware? Bloatware loaded on phones? Bloatware on TVs? Games that require 5 mins of ad time? Google's crippling of Chrome to break ad blockers? Unskippable ads on YouTube? Sponsored ad spots in YouTube videos? All the 3rd party logos on Smart TV boxes? Product placements in movies? Ad placements before the movie starts? The list goes on.

The entire entertainment industry is based around advertising. Every delivery platform is designed to show you ads first and entertainment second.

People have problems figuring that out?

It still is a thing, but I just mute those communities. They usually have zero participation by Lemmy anyway.

If I wanted to see Reddit content, I would go to Reddit.

All current series and development projects made under the Paramount Television Studios umbrella will move to CBS Studios.

This is basically just another Ma Bell shuffle, me thinks.

Birds cannot feel capsaicin either.

Here is a site that has some good lists: https://survival-mastery.com/diy/food_preserv/high-calorie-vegetables.html

Also, the number of calories you eat should be based on your current weight and the types of activities you plan on doing through the day. Calorie intake is variable!

Here is a chart for weight vs calorie intake vs activity:

Yeah. It sucks that he is gone. His comedy was awesome, but he was equally good at being serious when he had something to say on or off the screen.

In hindsight, it must have been lonely for him. He was one of a kind and I often wondered where he went for true companionship or even mentorship. For me, anyway, there are very few people that I would consider equals. (No, I am not referencing myself as superior to anyone else. It's like how Jerry found companionship with Doofus Rick in Rick and Morty. Just someone.. equal.)

Being a celebrity probably seriously limited how he could interact with people, I suppose.
