If it’s a gig, that means you’re a freelancer. This means they are not your employer and have no business telling you what to do.

Don’t lie. Show some integrity. You’ll be a happy_performer538 instead.

If it’s not consistently growing over time, rather than depleting, you’re doing it wrong. Stop spending more than you make.

Losing the ledger itself is not a problem.

Actually, no. They have a wealth tax. If your nest egg gets substantial, you should not be a resident in Spain.

I don’t stay at hostels, which helps. I choose to stay a bit longer per place, so i can rent somewhere which often turns out way cheaper.

Staying in hostels 365 days per year would drive me insane.

Ask a local if in doubt. Many areas are perfectly fine.

Theres other districts that are perfectly fine to visit. Even center of lima during day is harmless if you stay in the busy areas.

I recommend checking out the youtube channel nomad capitalist and the book is amazing too. They have many videos regarding your concerns.

My general tip, as you are a first timer: do not get your accommodation in the city center!

Make miraflores (or baranco or san isidro) your homebase.

If you need to know anything (i live here 6 months per year), feel free to DM.

Areas like baranco and miraflores are totally harmless. Areas like plaza norte and callao… not so much.

I’m in Lima now. It’s fine.
