Not just politics! They removed our comments for "misinformation". Very big brother, very cool, definitely no suppression of speech here

I wanna say I had sonic 2 installed? And it was about as controllable as you'd imagine with the scrollwheel lol.

Cool I'm so glad I got wildly overpriced soap dispensers on planes I'll never board for the fucking huge chunk of cash our useless fucking government takes from me instead of healthcare, or roads that aren't full of potholes, or properly functioning public transit, I love this country and my life

I'm glad a lot of the major vpns have stopped advertising them with "watch Netflix from any country, anywhere!" Because you could only do that for a short time before they started blocking all VPN IPs, and it was just blatant false advertising.

I really enjoy the game, and I play 2 accounts.

Yeah fair points. I will say this implosion of the social media I used to use has pushed me towards doing other things than scrolling on my phone lol, and that is a positive thing.

[–] ruckblack@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago

That's fair I suppose.

I disagree, I just think some kind of engagement algorithm would be better. I haven't used bluesky or threads so I can't speak to them. I'm just saying that back in the day on twitter, I had no problem finding a bunch of very funny and clever posts, and posts were catered to me well. Through both me following people and I assume through the engagement algorithm. I've tried adding a bunch of hashtags, but I'm not finding a bunch of hilarious stuff to send to my friends like I did back then on twitter.

Bunch of spam too, because bots use the hashtags, so I'm often scrolling through a bunch of auto-posted stuff. Idk. Maybe I'm using it wrong. I just feel like your average person isn't going to go through all that crap so they'll cling to twitter until it dies.

And I've tried switching instances around, which is just confusing honestly, and didn't really help with finding lots of content that I want to see. I used mastodon more when I was able to mirror people I know are funny on twitter to my mastodon feed lol. I want to like it, I just find I'm never tempted to go on it. Can't figure it out.

I've always been interested in trying the game, but didn't know anyone who could DM. I became really interested in playing a few months ago, and decided, fuck it, I'll do it myself. I just ran Dragons of Stormwreck Isle last night with a few friends, all of us completely brand new to D&D. I hit one snag where a player was prying for more information about Varnoth's history. They rolled really well, and Varnoth isn't necessarily guarded about her past, but I had NOTHING more to give them. The module had no more history, and I don't know the world well, so just trying to make up some lore on my feet was really difficult. I tried to give more jargon, didn't sound great, and just ended up making her tell the player that there wasn't much more to say, and that she'd moved on from that time in her life. This stuck out to me as a failure on my part, but after the session, I told the player about how it looked from my end and they didn't seem to have noticed that I was fumbling. They just assumed I had everything out in front of me. So I guess the improv was decent enough, and least for my completely inexperienced players. Anyone have tips on what to do when a player wants more information that an NPC should know, but it isn't something you'd prepared for?

I'll have to learn the rules a little better (the first encounter with the zombies featured 5 minutes of me leafing through the PHB because I ran into an important mechanic I didn't quite understand), and I should probably prep the story a little better too, but I'm beyond pleased at how successful the session was. Everyone had a great time and wants to keep playing. It was a ton of fun improvising and creating a fun goofy story together with my buds. Just very happy to have this new fun creative thing to do with my friends and want to share that joy. I'd really like to create my own stories eventually, but it does seem very daunting.

Anyway, thanks so much for all of your help! Reading through posts in this community has been invaluable to learning how to play and DM.

Not posting from the app obviously since submissions aren't supported just yet, but the app is otherwise awesome so far!!! Really well done ljdawson, just wanted to make this post to say thank you. I signed up for sync ultra right away.

I don't think it's any secret that there's a bit of a stuffy vibe on Mastodon. Does anyone have recommendations for hashtags they follow that pull more lighthearted content into their feed?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I can't seem to find the answer online. Is there any way for the users of an instance to see which communities have been blocked by the instance? I know we can see the instance blocklist, I'm interested in the community blocklist.
