One side of me hopes they outlaw computer games and porn like it's laid out in project 2025. Unfortunately, it will hit everyone, but I fear that this is gonna happen anyway.

Stimulants and other drugs will only work for so long. Eventually, even bigger doses won't help, and there might be a whipsplash effect at some point.
It always was in a way. In the early days only people with interest in the technology went online. Then, in the forum era, people found their communities and stuck with it. Only because of the rise of social media were suddenly all people on the same few platforms, which is now naturally splitting apart again into groups, subs, feds, etc
Most of my old playlists are missing a ton of videos that have been taken down over the years. Worst of all you can't even look up what those videos were called to search them somewhere else.
I'm already less and less on reddit except for a few nieche subs. The day old.reddit is gone will be the last time I visit that site.
Grew up the same way. Some of my all time favorite games are still some of the classics. That being said, I wouldnt shed a tear if they go bankrupt.

IMO, it's essentially the duality of techno babbling. In the hands of good writers it can enhance an already well written story.
In bad writing, it's often used as a fluff drama element, sometimes even becoming deus ex machina.
A sweep will also make it harder for the inevitable attempt of republicans to invalidate the election.
