Try going the other route, and explicitly subscribing to content you enjoy. From what I read you aren't alone, that all is a firehouse and it's not all fun. Subscribed to me is a much chiller experience

Do you use all or subscribe to things? I have a good list of communities and I honestly don't see much if any politics

while leadership pitches a return to single-player following its live service misstep

How much in executive bonuses was handed out for coming to that conclusion.

I mean it's not like the actual consumers have been screaming that in their faces for years.

Interesting how all of the studios keep trying to make cheaper and easier games and they say the industry is tougher than ever - but the studios who put time and care into their games seem to be doing fine

Exact same problem that the Halo show had - they wrote it for the broad audience and hired a bunch of people who didn't care at all about the source material, and then they casted it for who they thought would be popular. Which of course alienated the core fans and lost the broad audience.

Instead of catering to the devote fans and who then would encourage the broader audience to go see it with them. Look at Fallout. You can make a good show that the fans will enjoy, who will get others to watch too.

Good, how is it going over there at feddit.uk? I forgot the last owner just kind of ghosted

That's what I've come around to. It's not him. He's a figurehead that we apply blame but it's not. It's the people - the public. They want this. They have the fear and the hate, they actively want it. If America didn't want him, they wouldn't have voted him in. Even with tampering/whatever, if America didn't, he wouldn't be there. But America does want him, and that's a very sobering and sad thought to me. I try to live with a simple code - do what you want, as long as it doesn't hurt others. I learned yesterday that most American's don't have similar values.

Oh yeah, critical component. And vram, in fact I would only consider LLMs on a 3000+ card right now, they require quite a bit of vram

I've changed man, since then. I don't know how I feel about the Democrats, but I'm devastated over who voted Republican. So many people in this country voted for him. It wasn't just we had low turnout, but also just that he had so much. That's the disheartening thing for me, that still, with everything we know, he still carries 50% of this country easily. So yeah, we had too few, but worse, he has too many.

NVidia is great in a server, drivers are a pain but do-able. I have a 3000 series that I use regularly and pass into my kubernetes cluster. NVidia on a gaming rig linux is fine, but there is more overhead with the drivers.

AMD is great in gaming servers, but doesn't have CUDA, so it's not as useful in a server environment in my experience - if you're thinking of doing CUDA workloads like hosting LLMs.

1060 will be a noticeable step in Jellyfin

Yeah we're small enough that is fine, or just send a DM to one of them

DNS is of course the preferred approach

Rider is the best C# IDE IMO, works on linux, mac, and of course Windows. Very happy it's now free!

Fans customized the Wicked movie poster to more closely match the original Broadway poster.

Original Broadway Poster:

Movie poster:

Some fans, disappointed by the poster, altered it to be closer to the original, moving Grande’s hand and lowering the brim of Erivo’s hat to cover her eyes. The edits prompted Erivo to respond. “This is the wildest, most offensive thing I have seen

“None of this is funny. None of it is cute. It degrades me. It degrades us,” Erivo continued. “The original poster is an ILLUSTRATION. I am a real life human being, who chose to look right down the barrel of the camera to you, the viewer… because, without words we communicate with our eyes.”

So, this seems like a completely reasonable reaction to fans making fan content.

Hey folks! Not sure where to put this, but since I'm doing this to install Bazzite soon, why not.

I have a HTPC that currently has an NVidia card in it. Since Gamescope doesn't play nice with nvidia, I'm going to upgrade the GPU. I have a 6900XT in my primary rig, love the thing. here's the thing though, I was going to put it into my original HTPC, but it was too long by about 0.5 inches.

Does anyone have either A) a recommendation on a GPU that can drive a 4K tv that is shorter than 12" or B) Know of any good sites that have a filter?

It's a pretty intense machine, since the whole family uses it. I'm planning on about a grand for the new GPU, if it works like my 6900XT. Less is of course better, but I don't want this one struggling personally.

Thanks for any rec's!

I know, lame post, but I wanted to say that Linux gaming has gotten soooo much better, to the point that I honestly think my games are running better than on Windows. I've played so many games, but notable ones are Halo: MCC, MS Flight Sim 2020, Satisfactory, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, and right now I'm starting a full playthrough of Dragon Age.

Dragon Age is notorious even on Windows for being a pain because it's such an old game. You have to install the 4gb patch, and even then it's a bit rocky. Not on Linux though! I did have to install PhysX but I googled it and saw it was 2 buttons to install on Linux! Now it's been rock solid and stable, with no crashes.

Linux gaming may have a high bar to learn, but that bar is constantly getting lower! Exciting times!

I'm an ex incel myself, but I've been seeing a few users here exhibiting the tell tale signs. "I'm not attractive enough", "I don't socialize correctly", "I'll never find a woman" - all extremely unhealthy attitudes.

Personally I burned through many friendships and ruined a lot of chances with women because I was in the incel community. The community warped my view of women so much that I made it even harder to meet women, I became my own worst enemy. I lost friends because all I could think of was how horrible it was that they had girlfriends.

I have a friend who helped me out of it. She was the one who started calling out my bad behavior for what it was, and I started on the long uphill path out of it. I'm now married and stable for well over a decade, but I still think back to those days, and it depresses me seeing other people causing this themselves and not being aware of it.

So, Lemmy, for those who have clawed out of it, what's your story?

Curious to see how many people here are using Wyoming Satellites, and if so, what are you doing to build/house them?

I have a sample one working on an old pi and a computer speaker hooked up, with my primary Blue mic. Obviously this isn't long term, and I'm looking at building a few of these.

So, what do you use? Raspberry pi? Some sort of hat on it? What sort of casing do you use? Any really cool implementations? I'll take all ideas and suggestions!

Not that I use them anymore anyway, cancelling my old account, but name and shame any companies who conveniently can't support their free base. Also - it's VNC. It's a protocol. There's a dozen free clients out there.
