We have a Nuki, and use a lock from Yale which is designed for their own smart locks, but works fine with the Nuki. It has its own key from the outside, so doesn't look out of place at all.
The other option is to get a lock that can leave the key in and still use it from outside. Astral is one brand I think, but when I found the Yale it was perfect.
Get a Readily subscription. Here in the UK it is £8 a month. That will give you access to photography magazines from across the world, plus their back issues.
You need boiler control if that is what supplies the heat if you want to save money.
Given your requirements, an off the shelf solution would probably be better. Evohome is what I would recommend. I have had it for over seven years and it just works. App control of you want, but I don't touch mine other than to turn it on in November and off in April.
You can get a controller for each room, which will also double up as a thermostat for the room, telling the coordinator to call for heat.
The cheapest provider is Andrews and Arnold. However most ISPS don't have the migration resolved correctly using a different provider and keeping the number. Therefore, check if your ISP has a digital voice solution. If they do, then switch that first, which will disconnect your number from your line. Then port out as required. If the provider doesn't have a digital voice solution, then the only option is to migrate to a new provider who does and has setup so they can migrate your number as well. Then port to your preferred provider.
The third option is to setup a new connection with a new provider, which will not use a phone number at all. Could also be on an alt net if you have one. Then port your number to VOIP once it is live which will also cease your broadband.
Can be done - just has to be in the right order.
