Eh, I have a MB from work and I'm still an unrepentant Mac hater. All the badass hardware in the world won't save you from crippled software. MacOS will never be keyboard friendly and "MacOS UNIX" will never hold a candle to real Linux.

M1 Macbooks were also the first "Not Completely Shit" Macbooks after many years of awful problems so there was pent up demand from Apple users for something worth buying. Now that the demand is satisfied, sales will return to a baseline.

And game streaming is such a profitable market segment too. I mean look at how well Stadia is doing.

I dunno but it explains a lot about Atlassian's UX, doesn't it?

That didn't stop them from plowing ahead with Apple Maps, even though its debut was total garbage.

I would be an asshole to show up to this.

That's the part I really don't get. If you're cis male looking for a job, do you really think crashing this event is going to reflect favorably on you and that you'd be more likely to land a job? People are going to look at you and think that you have good judgment and won't be a problem at all? What the heck is the thought process that makes this a good plan?

This list comes across as very self-serving though. It's basically saying men's issues are only a problem for Feminism when it can be framed as also impacting women. I read the parent poster as calling for rising above a narrow single gender view of equal rights.

Lemmy seems to dream up this strawman of Capitalism while having a very rose tinted outlook on Communism. Everyone seems to miss that these are all problems with humans, not your favorite economic system.

Important consequence of this in the context of elementary schools: most little boys don't lift up the seat when they pee and their aim is atrocious. At my kids' school, the gender neutral bathrooms are the toilets of last resort.

I like "heat pump". It's a very nice ELI5 name. It's a pump for heat. A water pump takes water and forces it to where it wouldn't go naturally. A heat pump does the same.

Pebble Time Steel should have been the "standard". Maybe I'm the wrong audience but the Moto 360 is a big miss for me. A smart watch for me needs to have:

  • Always on, sunlight readable display
  • "3 day weekend" battery life
  • Basic smarts only: notifications, alerts, calendar
  • Durable, waterproof
  • Compact size
  • Fitness tracking

I don't care too much about "premium materials" once some basic durability is satisfied. I don't have an opinion about round vs square.

A few years ago, I used crypto-as-in-cryptography in conversation with another engineer and they seemingly derailed into talking about Bitcoin and Ethereum. We were both really confused and annoyed with each other.

It had a nostalgic feeling of what does "hacker" mean with some added irritation.
