If anything it will make things load faster as you're blocking a massive steaming pile of ads, trackers, etc

If your threat model is companies detecting your movie piracy then what you're doing now is fine. Just ensure any torrent program is bound to the VPN interface and also make sure you're blocking any trackers if you do happen to log into Facebook, Google, etc as they will be able to track your movements around the web (not that they're looking to enforce movie copyright)

You can find torrents here if you're willing to seed 181TB for the full dataset, or 43TB for just zlibrary https://annas-archive.org/torrents

Well the rest of us just see two trolls instead of one so don't expect anyone to treat you favourably when you're acting just as bad as the original troll.

I get it, just pointing out that you should be following your own advice on this as there is no point in feeding the trolls. Just block and move on bro. No point following them around lemmy engaging with them at every opportunity. People are smart enough to work it out for themselves.

Completely agree that this guy is a troll, but a check of his profile shows that the person who engages with them the most is you.

I don't understand it either as all the support pages indicate that you would need port forwarding in order to torrent but I've found this not to be the case. For reference I'm on Linux too using Proton VPN without port forwarding.

It seems you completely misinterpreted the intention of the article (willingly or ignorantly).

At Skiff, we take an authoritative position that PGP is no longer useful, long outdated by better encryption protocols, encumbered by unneeded complexity, and hard to use even from the start.

Except for "no longer useful" the rest is pretty much unanimously agreed upon within the community.

At least the previous "superfog" tragedy was still fresh in people's minds and I assume went a long way to preventing further injury and death.

Seems suss. Can you find that app installed on your system and verify if it is a legit system app?
