Donald Trump could be plotting to outlaw the Democratic Party in the wake of the killing of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, according to one analyst.

CNN’s Jamal Simmons said recent comments made by Trump and the White House deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, were “absolutely a concern” regarding the future of the two-party system in the United States.

Appearing with Kaitlan Collins on The Source to discuss the political impact of Kirk's assassination, Simmons said: “The president’s deputy chief of staff came out today and called the Democratic Party an extremist organization, after the president said that he was going to take action against extremist organizations. Therefore, the question arises in my mind: Is the president of the United States going to outlaw the Democratic Party? Is that where we’re headed?

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republicans unveiled Tuesday a stopgap spending bill that would keep federal agencies funded through Nov. 21, daring Democrats to block it knowing that the fallout would likely be a partial government shutdown that would begin Oct. 1, the start of the new budget year.

The bill would generally fund agencies at current levels, with a few exceptions, including an extra $88 million to boost security for lawmakers and members of the Supreme Court and the executive branch. The proposed boost comes as lawmakers face an increasing number of personal threats, with their concerns heightened by last week’s assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The House is expected to vote on the measure by Friday. Senate Majority Leader John Thune said he would prefer the Senate take it up this week as well. But any bill will need some Democratic support to advance through the Senate, and it’s unclear whether that will happen.

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries have been asking their Republican counterparts for weeks for a meeting to negotiate on the bill, but they say that Republicans have refused. Any bill needs help from at least seven Democrats in the Senate to overcome procedural hurdles and advance to a final vote.

  • Patel faces senators as critics question his leadership of the FBI
  • Handling of Kirk shooting probe and Epstein files have drawn scrutiny from Trump allies
  • Patel has sought to align FBI with Trump agenda

WASHINGTON, Sept 16 (Reuters) - FBI Director Kash Patel told a U.S. Senate panel on Tuesday there was no credible information that Jeffrey Epstein trafficked women and underage girls to anyone but himself, seeking to defuse criticism of the Trump administration's move to end its review of the case.

Patel's disclosure about the late financier and convicted sex offender came as he angrily pushed back on questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee about his handling of the investigation into the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and the firings of veteran officials who have claimed they were removed for political reasons.

Patel told senators the FBI's investigative files on Epstein were limited because a U.S. attorney in Florida improperly narrowed the scope of an investigation into Epstein two decades ago.

The Justice Department's July decision not to release additional material enraged many of President Donald Trump's hardline supporters, who expected his administration to reveal connections between Epstein, who died by suicide while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, and other wealthy and powerful people.

"We have released all credible information," Patel said.

Edit, SOLVED! For anyone else who may have this, it was the kernel. Updating to kernel 6.8xxx fixed it perfectly !

I finally convinced my SO to use Linux. And they are really liking it so far! I did warn them at first that every game may not work. But almost all of them should. One of the games they are in the middle of, is last of us 2. this game runs perfectly on my 2 other pcs, which are actually older! The older pcs have fx procs and SO's has a Ryzen 5 of some sort. their computer is all AMD as are all the other computers. But the game repeatedly crashes and won't launch, even when trying multiple proton versions. Deleting the prefix, folders and retrying everything again, and again, I have searched the output logs online. And I've tried everything I've seen, and it still will not work. It shows the splash screen sometimes, launches and then crashes instantly. I do notice that in the output logs from the other two computers, It has a quick blurb about wine in there, but on their computer, it says nothing about wine. It always says prefix is invalid. No, matter which proton prefix I try, I've tried GE proton as well as all of the built-in steam ones.

Its a bummer because this is making them want to go back to crummy windows because the game worked fine there of course ! Im just baffled. It must be something dumb.

I tried no steam overlay and the launch options of steamdeck and %command%, no luck. Reinstalling steam now to see. I did see i had protontricks as a flatpak so maybe that was it.

I have protonup-qt, protontricks, and bottles installed on it, just like on my other pcs too. Same graphics cards (rx580, yes its junk but cheap)

Update, the game runs good in windowed mode now, but insta crashes the whole window server if I full-screen (logs me out and quits programs). Not sure what to do yet. I did notice this pc is on a 5.xx kernel and im on a 6.xx kernel. Going to update that after we backup.

A spokesperson for the group stated that the stunt was designed to "celebrate the special relationship" between Mr Trump and Epstein, who are said to have once been friends.

A spokesperson for Everyone Hates Elon declared: "It's time to celebrate the special relationship - the relationship between pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and President Donald Trump. Trump's supporters are tearing themselves apart over the Epstein files. Now he's hoping to escape it all to have tea with the King.

"But there's no way we're letting him use our country to polish his image. Most people here hate what he stands for."

Are MAGA Republicans Using Charlie Kirk Shooting for More Violence? | Useful Idiots Monday Mourning

This episode of "Useful Idiots Monday Mourning" analyzes the reactions and rhetoric surrounding the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, focusing on how various figures, particularly within the Republican and MAGA movements, are using the event. The hosts, Katie Halper and Aaron Maté, dissect Sunday morning news shows and highlight what they see as dangerous and hypocritical narratives emerging in the wake of the tragedy. They also discuss the broader context of political violence, both domestic and international, and critique the selective outrage and normalization of violence, particularly concerning the ongoing situation in Gaza.

Key Points:

  • Initial Reactions to Charlie Kirk's Shooting:
    • The hosts discuss the immediate framing of the shooting as an act of political violence, noting that Kirk was killed while answering questions about his claims regarding trans people and mass shootings.
    • Utah's Governor Spencer Cox described the event as a potential "watershed" moment, questioning whether it marks the end or the beginning of a darker chapter in American history.
  • Trump's Response and the Normalization of Violence:
    • The hosts criticize Trump's response, including his demonization of the left and his rhetoric that fuels a culture of violence.
    • They highlight the normalization of the "daily live-streamed Holocaust in Gaza" and argue that this broader context contributes to a grim stage for political discourse and action.
  • Lindsey Graham's Commentary:
    • Senator Lindsey Graham's remarks are dissected, particularly his warning against turning America into the "M East" with "revenge killings."
    • The hosts point out the hypocrisy of Graham's statement, given his long-standing advocacy for violence in the Middle East and his support for arming Ukraine.
    • Graham's equation of Antifa with the KKK is criticized.
  • Eric Trump's Remarks and the "Sleeping Giant" Narrative:
    • Eric Trump's comparison of Kirk's assassination to Pearl Harbor and his reference to a "sleeping giant" are ridiculed.
    • The hosts mock his anecdote about a Jamaican man expressing sorrow over Kirk's death, suggesting it played into stereotypes.
    • They criticize Eric Trump's boasting about censorship and changing history books as part of Kirk's legacy.
  • Department of Homeland Security's Perspective:
    • The hosts scrutinize Christine Noem's claims about China infiltrating the U.S. through open borders, questioning the factual basis and the mixed messages about border security.
    • They argue that the Trump administration is exploiting the act of violence to become even more draconian.
  • Investigation into the Shooter's Motive:
    • The hosts discuss the reporting on the suspect's living situation with a transgender partner and the potential for this detail to fuel hate towards trans people.
    • They criticize the rush to misinterpret evidence, such as the markings on shell casings, to fit a narrative of transgender ideology.
  • Stephen Miller's Vow to Target "Radical Left Organizations":
    • The hosts express concern over Stephen Miller's vow to use law enforcement to target "radical left organizations," viewing it as a dangerous escalation of political repression.
  • Broader Context of Political Violence and Hypocrisy:
    • The hosts emphasize that violence is not unique to one side of the political spectrum and that there has been targeted violence against people on the left as well.
    • They criticize the selective outrage and the failure to acknowledge the suffering of victims of violence in other contexts, such as the people in Minnesota who were shot and killed.
  • Discussion on the Term "Vermin":
    • The hosts analyze Trump's use of the word "vermin" to describe his political opponents, highlighting its dehumanizing effect.

Highlighted Information:

  • "The left is the party of murder": A quote from Elon Musk, which the hosts correct by stating that both parties are complicit in mass murder, particularly in Gaza.
  • "We will root out the communists, Marxist, fascist, and the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country.": A quote from Donald Trump, which the hosts criticize as dehumanizing.
  • "That's what they do in the Middle East. That's not what we do.": A statement by Lindsey Graham, which the hosts refute by pointing out the U.S.'s history of violence in the Middle East and the ongoing situation in Gaza.
  • "They have definitely awoken that uh that sleeping enemy.": A quote from Eric Trump, which the hosts mock and interpret as a call to action against political opponents.
  • "OMG, I forgot about Seinfeld's idiotic statements about the KKK.": A humorous interjection highlighting the frequency of ridiculous comparisons to the KKK in political discourse.

The hosts conclude by expressing concern over the potential for further escalation of political violence and the exploitation of tragedies for political gain. They urge for a more honest and nuanced conversation about violence, both domestic and international, and a rejection of dehumanizing rhetoric.

In a statement to CTV News on Monday, Public Service Alliance of Canada National President Sharon Desousa called Carney’s comments about attrition “flat out misleading and ignore the hard truth facing Canada’s public services.”

“Thousands of permanent public service workers have already been told their jobs are being cut – not through retirement and voluntarily leaving the public service as the prime minister claims, but through direct layoffs,” Desousa said, adding “The federal government’s austerity agenda is lazy, reckless, short-sighted – and puts the entire country at risk.”

The first Psychonauts is a true Tim Schafer game: unconventional and a bit absurd, but funny and entertaining nonetheless. And make no mistake, this game is old, as is obvious by the graphics and certain game designs. And while the art style is unique, is grotesqueness is also not for everybody, sure. But I first played it a few years ago and so can say: even without nostalgia googles, it is a fun collectathon in today's age, if you can forgive some old school jank.

You play as Raz, a kid with psychic abilities that sneaks into a training camp for psychic secret agents, the titular Psychonauts. He wants to be one as well, but his family of circus artists forbid it. Psychonauts can enter the minds of other people and can access memories or help with psychical problems in this way. And the mind levels of all the different characters are the highlight of the game. Every single mindscape is unique for each character with different objectives and mechanics. You have one mind stuck in a 70s disco party, where you mostly have to use a bouncing ball to float around. One from a small guy with Napoleon complex, where everything is set up like a wargame or another from a failed actress where you have to literally set the stage and tell her life story and thereby help her come to term with it.

If you like unconventional designs, collectathons and can forgive some old school control and game design issues & somehow haven't played this game yet, I highly recommend it! The creativity in its characters and their mind levels is pretty unique. The sequel Psychonauts 2 is also a great game and modernise the formula without losing it's charm. Between those two games is also a plot relevant VR game "Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin". It is a fun little VR game, but if you can't play it, just watch a let's play or read a story summary, it's not a long game and only the setup for the beginning of the second main game.

It's available on GoG & Steam.

You hear them bang on and on about this cycle:

Bad times create strong men.
Strong men create good times.
Good times create weak men.
Weak men create bad times.

This is absolutely true, 100%

So the facists are right!

Too bad they confuse who the strong and weak men are...

Five hours after Charlie Kirk was shot this week, an Atlanta man got a phone call from an Illinois police officer asking about a photo he shared with a couple of close friends on a private Discord chat. The Atlanta man, who asked not to be identified, says the post was merely a confirmation that he had purchased the same T-shirt that the accused killer wore (from an Illinois-based online shop).

Social media companies are generally forbidden by law from divulging users’ private communications to the government without a traditional legal process (e.g., court order). But there’s an exception: in perceived emergencies, social media platforms can proactively and “voluntarily” hand over private messages in response to what’s called an “emergency disclosure request” (EDR).

Discord, I am told, did not respond to any EDR here; but when I asked them directly if they’d provided law enforcement with information to traditional legal process, they declined to respond on-record.

The FBI, or the intelligence community, evidently is monitoring Discord private messaging, even from people who have broken no law.

Full blown Orwellian world. Run for local government and stop this shit.

The largest populated areas are left leaning. If they ae controlled by democratic socialist, we can restrict this shit. Just by pure numbers.
