Vehicle has had 5 services and I am assuming those miles are motorway miles. I’ll also be doing about 20k miles a year in it. Just wondering if I am buying a car that will now need lots of expensive repairs due to mileage?

Hey there,

Just wondering if any of you already tried to kind of emulate navigation messages through obd to trigger the hud display like the native bmw nav app is doing ?

I don't have an iPhone, so no carplay at all.

I think it's not specific to a specific car, since message ids are generally "shared" between models.

BTW, I'm targeting an F48 2018. I don't have it for the moment, I'm planning to buy it only if I have a solution 😁 (I really want android PLUS hud nav)

The final goal: allow every android users to just install an app and use their Android map apps to display navigation steps! (I'm a dev)

Guys I've recently purchased an e90 and when it rains I've been turning my wheel to a sharp angle and hitting the gas to lose traction its been a blast, but I've been wondering is it bad for my car's suspension/engine or anything else. btw this is my first car go easy on me...

It happens more often than I would’ve ever thought on a 2018 340i.

Carrying groceries, Amazon boxes, etc. I man-hands whatever I’m carrying and it finds its way against the key fob button, the trunk opens and I don’t realize it till I come back out to the car later. I have a Carly dongle but couldn’t find any override function for the trunk open button. Thanks

I was looking for stuff around that 60k price range, in battle against getting a Tesla Model Y or Model 3 Performance so that’s where pricing comes from. I used to want a BMW, and every time I look elsewhere BMW comes back to me. This time, while looking on carfax used under 60k and in my area some of the top cars were M440i X drives and M850i X drives. I know they are as fast or as sporty as their standard M counterparts but considering they are “well” under 60k and still M series, they give me a lot to work with. I was looking at getting a Supra as well but I’m think the M440i and M850i would be big upgrades over it in the long run. Please tell me what you think, also why are these cars so cheap used?

I am about to purchase a 2018 340i M sport with a M/T, 35k miles. Is there anything I should do right away preventative maintenance wise? Not looking to do any mods to it, just want something that will be solid for years to come. Thanks for any input

I rarely use it and don’t really know the full extent of what it can do beyond “I’m cold”, “I’m hot”, “I’m bored” or “Tell me a joke”!

I love the way BMWs look but I’m a non-BMW peasant and I was thinking of renting one for a day to see what it’s like

I want to experience the power, luxury and handling of a Beamer

But which BMW would you want to rent? Probably a 3 series. A 5 series would be too expensive so I feel it would be best to stick with a 3 series

Would renting a bmw for a day be worth it? Or should I scrap the idea altogether?

Just bought a 2020 X5 40i X drive as a CPO from a dealership. Options include metallic black paint, Harmon Kardon, comfort, remote start, AWD.

21k miles. Clean Carfax

Price was listed at $40,899. Was able to get it to $38.8k including $500 for financing through BMW (they were able to match the best rate I found)

It’s been really tough as I’ve found most dealers barely budge on negotiating nowadays.

How did I fair?

Not gonna lie I like them both. The IX M60 in Blue Ridge Mountain Metallic looks incredible. Both are fast and got nice tech. Which one you going with?

I recently got z4 m40i as loaner when my 3 series is in shop, but I feel z4 is not that stable on city roads when taking quick turns with b58 engine. Could you please explain why I feel 330i drive is more stable than z4? Is it because of rear wheel drive and b58 engine?

I drive a 22 x40i and i can’t figure out the carplay in this thing. It has me connect from the wifi section on my iphone to a connection like Direct-BMW73737 and then it does work, but then i get 0 connection on my phone. I thought maybe it was just a placeholder but it seems like it connects to a network with no wifi. whats the workaround/proper way to do this?

The wife and I test drove an X3 for her a few months back and loved it, minus the base sound system. That is the one requirement for us. I have been looking for an X3 for months now and just about none of them have the H/K sound system, unless you option for the M40i.

Currently have a 2020 m340i in sunset orange with all of the options, while the car is a great daily it doesn’t look or feel special enough to me. Thinking a Sakhir orange M6 would be a perfect replacement.

My 2016 430i started leaking coolant and put it in a garage as I have little knowledge about finding the cause or fixing it.

According to the garage they have ordered aftermarket part twice which didn't fit therefore they have to order the genuine part from bmw. Which is on back order and will be made available sometimes in middle of December.

I'm just trying to find solutions as I need my vehicle soon and don't want to let the car be in the garage for more than a month. Anyone have any advice. I really appreciate it. Based in UK

Hi friends,

I have had my G80 M3 xDrive on order now for several months and recently received my allocation and production number. Around the same time, a friend made me aware of the possibility of "European delivery", whereby I could travel to Germany, drive the car there for a bit, then get it shipped to stateside.

The caveat: I have been reading conflicting information about this online. Some say that it has been discontinued; however, I did find this post on some BMW dealer's website mentioning that it is still possible. So I have a few questions for the more experienced members here:

  1. Does BMW still offer this? If so, is this dealer specific or is it generally honored everywhere?
  2. Is it too late to even request this from my dealer? Like I mentioned I already have the production number.
  3. If I take delivery in Europe, will the car have European plates?

Thanks in advance!

Hi guys, I have a bmw340i 2016. I have had a tune before this as I have had this car for a couple of years now unfortunately I got into an accident and my car was sent to the dealership when it got fixed and they removed the modifications I had on it and locked it. Is there anything I can do to unlock it and get my tune back? Please let me know and if there's any place I could go to in the GTA.

Hey all! I am thinking about switching from Honda to BMW. I’ve had a BMW 7 series in the past but it died around 300k miles. It was super reliable and a great daily. I’m hoping to get a similarly reliable BMW again but I’m not sure which models I should be looking at. I really like BMW 3,4,5 series between 2015 to now. I am thinking of buying used if it has less than 50k miles and a warranty(no private dealers).

Any suggestions on which years models I should be looking at for the best reliability and fun for a daily?

A perfect vintage V12 850i, as the upholstery and dashboard say, and someone buys it and adds a non oem kit to make it “extraordinary”. I’m sad.

Basically all the ones with the newer tech or 2021+... heard the reliability and the fuel economy on some of these is crazy good Can anyone back it up or have some thoughts?

I have a 2022 M240i. It has 16k miles on it. I found a 2020 blue/white 2020 M4 near me with 21k miles. Price is 60k trade value 44k. I am sure there will be a small amount of negotiation room here. Warranty quote is like 3k or so for 60m interested in how best to warranty this if I do buy it. I wanted a convertible to begin with but in 2022 I was not paying those prices and pickings were slim. Why should I not do this, talk me out of it. How much of a difference will it be between the two cars?

Hi..

Recently brought 3 series GT as a daily drive. Just realised one challenge, whenever there is frost or snow its really difficult to open doors as window is not able to roll down automatically due to snow.

Please advise.

I have alwas been a fan of the BMWs and have always wanted to buy one since YEARS! Finally, the years have reduced to less than 2 now since I am planning to get my first car.

1 know many people would suggest going for more cheaper and reliable cars as my first, but the heart wants what it wants. Having said so, I have read a lot about how the BMWs are called the ultimate money draining machines as they demand very high maintenance. Typically, an average BMW owner spends 25-35% more on maintainance as compared to other brand owners, as per the myriad of blogs and videos that I went through. Is that true?

Considering my budget, I would most likely be going for the 2023 228 Gran Coupe. Or if I stretch a bit, I'd try for the 330i, but no more than that. Are these good options? Realistically, how much would the maintenance cost on these models? A breakdown from the auto experts, BMW owners and fanboys would be great!

So I'm currently in a G80 M3, but as the family requires a bit more space, I find myself drawn to the X5s. I've owned a couple in the past, I really like the design. Now in my 21'G80, which has the executive package, does not have ACC (some executive). I really pound the highways with this car, so the lack of ACC is my number one gripe. The car is otherwise absolutely amazing, this is my 3rd M3, and it is my favorite. Bought it barely used and I have put 30K miles on it.

So, I'm starting my search for X5s with ACC feature in mind, M sport package, decent colors, and I:m in. Turns out almost no one ordering them new shelled out the $4K for the option at the time, so its sadly probably not going to happen easily. I will need to be hunting for a while. For fun I just toggled BMW and Adaptive cruise as filters on Autotrader and there was like 14 total cars that had the option within 25 miles and I have 2 dealers... I've been told BMW cannot add this to a car as it requires new sensors, bumper and new software and CPU, which makes sense. More of a rant. I am not going to order a new one. Open to ideas here.

(Pic is of me in the F80M3 at VIR in 2018, just good times)
