i have it but im not an audiophile so im not completely sure abt the quality but i do feel like the audio has less punch to it if it makes sense? compared to my sony MDR-ZX110...

for example would choosing the razer blackshark v2 over these make sense? need it for console btw, which ive heard it has low bass on or something but it couldnt possible be worse than the cloud right? given that people only say absolutely horrible things about the new cloud 2s

Diehard Sony Fan, always wanted to get both of the Z1Rs, finally pulled the trigger last week(along with the FIIO K7). The FIIO K3 will be paired with the IER-Z1R. The FIIO K7 will be paired with the MDR-Z1R. Wanted to get the TA-ZH1ES, but currently out of budget.

My 1AM2 and N3AP can finally retire.

Audio novice here, was just curious if anyone has had experience with this and to hear peoples takes:

Context

Recently wanted to shift off of using over-ear headphones as my daily driver (WFH and game a decent amount, the clamp and pressure is getting to me). Did some light research and picked up some Chi-Fi IEMs (Moondrop Aria) as an entry point to see how things go.

My previous headset was a SteelSeries Arctis 7, and I was using SteelSeries Sonar as a virtual mixer because I liked being able to split out the game / chat channels, etc. I was using their Spatial Audio (virtual 7.1 channel audio) for gaming because I felt like it gave me better imaging (I think that's the right word?) for footsteps and directional audio cues when playing comp FPS.

Now, with my new IEMs I was playing around with using SteelSeries Sonar even without their headset. I set up an EQ profile that people pointed Aria users to online, thought it was nice, and still use a separate profile for gaming that I prefer as it's tuned a bit more for that in-game imaging. Effectively, I have a profile for most daily use (music, videos, movies, with Spatial Audio off) and then one for gaming (Spatial Audio on).

When playing around with it however, I feel like using Spatial Audio on even my non-gaming sound profile gives a "broader" sound? Like it feels a bit more full and opens up the sound a bit? I feel like I'm using imprecise terms and so I'm here to ask what other people may have thought about it and if they use any kind of virtual 7.1 audio with their IEMs (or other single driver headphones) and if they like/dislike it?

TL;DR:

  • Switched from SteelSeries Arctis 7 to Moondrop Aria IEMs to stop dealing with clamp/pressure.
  • Still using SteelSeries Sonar as virtual mixer
  • Have different audio profiles for gaming vs casual use
  • Spatial Audio (virtual 7.1 audio) is used with gaming profile but I'm finding that I like it with casual use too.

Does anyone else have experience using virtual 7.1 audio with their single driver headphones for non-gaming, and do you like it? Am I missing out on anything by doing this?

In all seriousness, though, I am searching for an upgrade from my DT 990s (290 grams) and have heard fantastic things about the LCD-2 classic line. However, I have also heard horror stories and discourse amongst the forums from people who are not big fans of the weight.

What are some of your experiences with Audeze headphones, specifically regarding the weight? Does the adjustability and comfort make it less significant an issue than some people describe?

I also encourage those with 500+ gram headphones to say their thoughts.

Since I Started college 10 years ago I have been verg strict when listening to music. I used to listen and download new music each day, couldn't listen to a mp3 @128kbps and I could easily tell the difference between 128 and 320 Easily but nowdays I can't. Tried replacing my cheap Z312 logitec speakers with Beyerdynamics DT 770 PRO but couldn't notice difference neither Did MP3 encoding just got better over the years or my ears are not so good like they used to be?

Some of this Onn. Electronic sh*t is literally the best sh*t on the market in certain areas of electronics, its hard to explain but price point they had a 4k 120Hz TV available for $350 (Sold out, if you know what that means, you know thats next level sh*t at next level price.) I'm looking at soundbars, it's got an 11.1.2 at 250$ (shhhh) some of this Onn. gear is legit, some of it's pure junk, i bought a tv, and i had an argument with the television one night and ended up kicking a hole through it, but that's neither here nor there, point remains the tv was aite, wasn't great but was an incredibly affordable 4k 60hz tv that sufficed for a minute.. some dumbass on TV started talking sh*t to me, so i drop kicked it, even after my foot went thru it, it still relatively played, nah jk... no fruckin way that thing worked, lmfao... But Roku was basically behind the Television, except it's all over the market (Even selling microphones extra cheap, idk but it's a solid affordable new brand sold specifically at walmart, Lately for this years Black-Friday events, Walmart IS NOT TO LAUGHED AT! especially online, they're competing with Amazon as over 12 US states filed suit against Amazon for monopolizing the Market, this basically means the US Government is going to help companies like Walmart and other online market retailers to compete, nearly half of America is Suing Amazon for Monopolizing the retail Market, which means the US Government will help (along with Amazon) to try and find companies to help compete with it, even if it's just temporary, i have a feeling by the prices and the way Walmarts been running it's online website that they're paying WAY more attention to it than they used to. It's about X-mas and not having one online company dominate the entire market. 11-12 US States file a suit against your American Company for Monopolizing the market? (NOT GOOD) now i was against this when they did it but was considering supporting the suit as the fake company names they often make selling gear are usually deesigned to mock me, now they're mocking me & my brother, as one company was named "Dahmer" the other day, i laughed my fucking ass off for like 5 mins. usually it's all 6 sh*t or 5m1tt sh*t, not i just want my Underwear to say 5m1tty on it, and i'll be happy...

It’s extremely light. Blocks out all the construction noises out of my condo. What’s most importantly, it doesn’t hurt at all.

Most headphones that I have used made me feel quite uncomfortable and irritating after wearing them for too long.

And I was hesitating between this one(Bose qc45) and Sony xm5. At last I chose the comfort over the sound quality I guess. But one flaw is that the labiodental is too obvious.

**Didn't attach the photo correctly, Also didn't mention how previously.

I fixed a set of Q30's with the infamous snapping problem. Despite how disappointed I am, I can still say I love these headphones. It's a bummer that they have a design flaw that I hope is not so for nefarious reasons

I 3D printed the broken piece. Don't know if I can share link but the model is on Cults3D. To the person who made it: Shout out to you!

I dont have a store nearby, so i do most of my headphone exploring by buying and reselling used headphones. Havent made a profit nor a loss in 20 or so headphones. But in my country (Netherlands) the market is pretty bad, especially with the higher end stuff. People try to sell their (ab)used stuff often for more than new price and get annoyed when you offer them a more realistic price.

Basically title. I've got no problem with BT as a source but would also like the option to have a wired source like from USB-C or the like. Thanks!

Hi, I've currently owned the Sennheiser 660 S just shy of a year now.
With that being said, I told myself I would go for the Sennheiser 800 S.

Don't get me wrong, the 800 S sounds amazing but strangely enough it just made me appreciate my 660 S even more. I feel like the 660 S has better mids and more clarity. I was also underwhelmed by the soundstage. I think I might have had too big expectations for the sound stage where it would have felt more "speakerlike".

What do you guys think about this? Shouldn't I be preferring the 800 S. I'm kinda confused by all of this.

Thanks!

As someone who had only a handful of headphones, and a couple of demo-sessions, I kinda know what kind of sound signature I am looking for, but I am not really well-versed inside of the audiophile territory so I wondered if someone could help me figure out how to properly define my preferred sound signature. I will try to be as descriptive as possible, but apologies if I am using incorrect terms or not enough terms to properly explain everything.

The headphones that I used and what I (dis)liked about them:

  • HD599: from memory - they were very warm headphones. The warmthness drowned out a lot of the vocals/instruments for me. I guess I could call the whole experience "muddy"/veiled sounding. I also found the sound to be very "boxed in".

  • AD500x: from memory - completely flipped the script and was the first headphone I thoroughly enjoyed. Mids/instruments were pretty forward I believe, but it felt incredibly smudged together. Very little detail and clarity. It was fairly bass light, but not much of a concern for me given that bass is not of importance to me.

-HD560s: current daily driver, EQ'd to harman target. These headphones "wowed" me given the detail and seperation I experienced compared to the AD500x. People call them "neutral-bright" and that is also how I perceive them (both with and without EQ). It doesn't have much bass, but the bass that is there is pretty nice. The treble seems to emphasize some smaller details in recordings that I like quite a lot, but it doesn't sound as fatiguing as a Beyerdynamic headphone. The midrange just felt.. neutral. Not very recessed nor very forward to me. The EQ helped to remove some shoutiness that happened around the 5k Hz range I believe. I do miss a bit more vocal and instrumental presence.

  • Ananda V2: was one hell of an upgrade, but I unfortunately had to return it due to QC issues. The vocals/instruments felt a little bit more pronounced, and the music sounded a bit "fuller", as if it had more body, although I am unable to pinpoint what exactly did that for me. Seperation and detail was even better than the HD560s. It didn't feel muddy, veiled or boxy at least.

So TL;DR is basically:

  • I am not a big fan if a (overly) warm/bassy sound. It makes me feel boxed in. Warmthness is more in the upper-bass and lower-mid range, correct?

  • I want a bit more vocal/instrumental presence than the "neutral" sound of the HD560s.

  • I do like a good presence of treble too. I noticed that treble gives me that hint of "detail" and "clarity" which I like a lot. Too little treble and I feel like those little details are getting lost. I guess that a "dark" sound signature is not my style.

But the thing I am confused on is that I have seen some people mention that the Ananda sounds a bit V-shaped/U-shaped and even a little bit on the warmer side,, which I believe goes slightly against what I am refering to in a few instances, especially with me experiencing a more fuller/forward presence of instruments and vocals.

So... With my description, me liking the HD560s, and significantly liking the Ananda V2 more, what is the proper definition of the sound signature that I seem to prefer? Or are there conflicting opinions going on here?

They're available brand new for $630 AUD (in Australia) at the moment which seems like a very good price, however I'm still a little hesitant to buy them due to the amount of reports I've seen regarding driver/connection issues.
