i just learned that 2jz's are still cheap, i was looking at them to compare to the barra engine (but thats a whole other topic), and i learnt that the 2jz is available in a lot of other obscure cars that havent got the bro tax, like the toyota progres, BUT they use another type of 2jz named 2JZ FSE, whats the difference and most importantly, can GTE mods work on it ? because that looks too good to be true.

As per the title, I am moving states and I am quite broke to hire movers. Would it be advisable to install a tow bar to my aygo and hook a trailer.

Is it too small to handle such a load (double bed, fridge and couch)?

I’m in California and just bought a new Camry and got 1000$ incentive by taking a loan from Toyota Finance Service. Dealer told me I have to do two payments until I can payoff. However, I already see payoff quote on TFS website right after the account is setup. Based on the agreement and evidenced by the quote, there is no early payoff penalty.

I want to payoff asap because the high interest rate. Can I do it now, or do I have to follow the dealer’s instructions?

Are these still getting dealer markups? Reached out to a few dealerships and all had dealer installed options and 5k above msrp

Recently converted from an all Ford family (14 Escape and newer F150/F250) to all Toyota (24 GHighlander Platinum HybridMax for me and 24 Sienna Platinum for the wife) so I'm new to the Toyota tech and maybe I'm missing something but...

Is it just me or does the remote start kind of suck? Especially for a service that I'm supposed to pay for?

The fob sequence is finicky. The fob range is abysmal. The app can be a bit glitchy. The 10 minute timer feels inadequate this far north.

And that's all annoying but worse yet, it doesn't seem to really do anything. It doesn't turn on heated seat, heated steering wheel, or front/rear/mirror defrosters. The climate control doesn't even really seem to warm up.

Am I suffering from some malfunction or is the remote start just bad?

Hi all.. im looking to buy my first car (since driving a beater truck since 16 years old). i love the reliability of toyotas and i have driven a camry a few times on out of state trips (rentals).

im looking to test drive a 2021 camry SE that i found in my area. the thing is it has about 90k miles on it.. my dad feels like this is arguably too many for such a new car (possibly owned as a rental previously). it has a clean carfax with only one previous owner and no accidents reported.

i guess my question is - what do yall think? is 90k miles too much for a used 2021 camry? i really like the car and it checks all my boxes so far.. i’m definitely going to test drive it, but my dads just planted some doubt in my mind about the mileage.

Hello all.

I just bought a brand new 2024 Corolla hatchback SE about a week ago. I didn't have the best buying experience but I desperately needed a new car and loved this model, so it worked out fine to me. Literally the same day I bought it, I start having issues where the infotainment system only works about 40-50% of the time.

I'd hold down the screen's power button to restart it, id tap the screen, id restart the car, and then MAYBE it'd turn on. When it's not working, I can't use the radio system in any capacity, the backup camera, any charging ports near the screen, or any navigation features whatsoever.

I took it back to the dealership's service garage a couple days later and they essentially said they couldn't find anything wrong but that they would document it because I'm "not the only one theyve seen that's experiencing this" (so enthused that they told me that after buying the car 🥴). I totally get that a con of getting a brand new model is that there could be issues they were unaware of occur that they can't fix until people report it, so maybe this is just what this is... Is there anything else I can do? Does anyone know how to find out who manufactures the screen/radio systems in these models to see if any kind of replacement part is available?

If anyone else is experiencing this in the newest Corolla models, have you been able to fix it?

I really do love the car and it was such a struggle to even find one of these and go through the buying process, so the idea of having to start all over if I were to take it back just seems so frustrating, but I am also beyond frustrated that a brand new car is having these issues so suddenly. If you can't tell already, this is the first new car (or really any car) that I've purchased myself so I'm very naive to how all of this works and what to do. Any advice or thoughts are appreciated!

Car runs fantastic

Our family has always driving Toyota but we haven’t bought a new one since a 2018 Rav4. I was the one “negotiating” with dealers back then and I remembered each dealer had like 20 Rav4 (even more of Camry and Corolla). That gave good negotiating power to buyer like me.
Recently one of my cousins graduated, his parents asked me to help them find a Prius. 4 out of 5 dealers near me has zero Prius on hand. and one that has lists the MSRP $28k LE trim at $33k+ tax and fees.
I told my aunt to wait some time so the inventory gets back up and we buyer got some power back.
I wonder how long that would take…

Not me calling Toyota N.A. everyday to complain about the lack of body-on-frame SUVs and how the same ideas for CUVs are being released with different nameplates.

Who else thinks Toyota is lacking body-on-frame SUVs?

Body-on-frame: 4Runner, Landcruiser (It’s back y’all!), and Sequoia.

Unibody CUV/SUV: Corolla Cross (New to 2023), Crown Signia (New to 2025, rumored to replace the Venza), Grand Highlander (New to 2024), Highlander, RAV4, and BZ4X. Am I missing any?!

Toyota needs to stop releasing different CUV’s every 4-5 years and come out with a classic badge like the FJ on a compact or midsize body-on-frame SUV.

I would trade my RAV4 in a heartbeat for a new FJ.

Who’s with me?!

Local mechanic has said the whole rod needs replacement

They said they’ll have to take out the engine to replace it (very labour intensive, unaffordable right now)

I’m also asking because this mechanic says they haven’t worked on this car before. A second opinion is always good.

Is this true?

Also is this the same common fault that these models have?

I’ve read that although Toyota has recognised it as a defective part it’s not dangerous?

If anyone with experience could help us out I’d be very grateful

I purchased a new 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross at the beginning of October. A week later, I noticed that the passenger side doors make a popping noise when they are opened. I took the car back to the dealer I purchased it from, they confirmed that the doors were making a popping noise, but the doors were still safe and secure, and they sent some kind of report to Toyota.

From what I’m understanding, they are waiting to hear back from Toyota on whether or not this is a “characteristic” of this model, meaning, in their eyes, it’s not a flaw and they will not fix it. I’ve been in contact with the service rep I worked with at my appointment and there’s still no update from Toyota. The rep said “if we EVER get a response back from Toyota, or a solution, we’d be happy to fix it.”

What I’m having difficulty finding answers to are:

  1. Does the dealer not have any kind of responsibility to fix the popping noise if Toyota never gets back to them?
  2. Does this fall under the Consumer Protection Act?
  3. The service rep said he’s been paying attention to other Corolla Cross’s and has heard the same popping noise on those - does that make it a characteristic of the vehicle even if Toyota corporate never follows up with the dealership and doesn’t confirm this?
  4. Is there anything I can do about compensation from the dealer?

In Canada, my 2020 Corolla SE has worn-out 18-inch OEM alloy tires and 16-inch metal rim winter tires. I also dislike seeing huge tires in one season and cheap ones in another. Considering buying one set (to save money) of quality alloys and two same-size tires for winter and summer.

What's the ideal size for both seasons?

I'm aware the mechanic may charge extra for tire swaps since I have only one set of rims, and it involves balancing each time. Seeking advice if this is a bad idea.

2018 Toyota RAV4

Went out to a rainy morning today and my headlights weren’t turning on- both low and high beams were off. Side indicators worked fine. Wasn’t able to check rear lights.

I want to change the bulbs first to see if that’s it, but I was wondering if I should replace all four bulbs (2 lows, 2 highs) or start with just the lows. I read conflicting information online that highs can go off when lows die, and highs and lows are separate so they should affect each other.

With all 4 going out at the same time does that mean that this can be wiring?

Every video I find online is just the standard stereo, and not for the JBL version.

I'd like to know what else, if anything, I should be prepared for.

hoping someone here might already have a solution! so i got my 2020 toyota camry trd back in like may, now that it’s getting colder obvi i’m wanting to utilize my remote start to let my car warm up before i leave but after watching a couple videos and downloading the app I’m having a lot of issues. #1 my app won’t connect to my car per say, can’t start from the app- called and they said due to the trim of my car i won’t have the ability which i thought was really weird? BUT the woman on the phone said yes up and down that I could utilities the remote start from my key fob.

okay…

tried to use the key fob.. no luck? dash will turn on but car doesn’t actually start.

anyone had this issue? do i have to go to the dealership? estimate of repair? (if there even is one lol)

thanks in advance

We've begun looking into a new Toyota for our family, specifically either a 2024 Grand Highlander Hybrid or Sienna Hybrid. After calling a dozen local dealers, I found that none of them have even one of the two models we are evaluating.

Wondering if the production issues Toyota experienced earlier this year are persisting, or if this is normal in late November for Toyota - meaning that they are simply at the early stages of ramping the next year models.

Hi all, I’m shopping for a new (to me) vehicle and specifically am hoping for a minivan that I can use for camping. Someone in my town is selling a 1991 Toyota Previa with 290,000 kms (not miles) on it. The guy selling it is only the second owner of the vehicle, and says he has put about $1500 into it just in parts (not including labour). He is asking $4,000 CAD for it but says he is flexible on price. It comes with both winter and summer tires. I live in Canada where winter tires are essential so coming with them and not having to buy new ones is a bonus. I would get it looked at by my own mechanic before buying. I have been hoping to buy something a bit newer and with a lot less kms than that, however the used car market is insane right now and I have always heard that “Toyotas last forever”. I owned an old Camry for a couple of years and it was a great car. I guess I’m just wondering if the reputation of them lasting a long time is true? Any particular issues to look for? Would “lasting a long time” mean lasting over 400K kilometres? I don’t want to have to buy a new car in a year. Anyone here owned a Previa and loved it?

Am looking to help my parents purchase a car that will likely be their last one. They’re 65 and 73, retired and need to finally give up their 2004 Toyota corolla which is practically crumbling on them in terms of the paint and interior. They’re not financially able to upgrade themselves so I would be buying it myself and trying to avoid spending more than 25k before taxes. Is that going to be unrealistic?

Any suggestions on which model might be the best for parents who will only be using the car for running small errands in town and don’t need a ton of space that could last them the next 15 or so years?

My 2018 Nissan Altima was able to remote start from fob, and drive off without the car cutting out.

My brand new 2024 Camry intelligent key seems way behind tech wise and is 6 years newer.

Is there anyway to enable drive off feature (car not shutting off after being remote started)?

I saw some YouTube videos saying the feature is coming but I need it NOW.

WINTER IS HERE

Any advice on this matter is appreciated.

Thank you

My 2009 avensis is now developing some serious rust. Can anyone advise me please on any rust treatment paints they’ve used? In the UK as I intend to treat it myself.
