The Boston Celtics have agreed to trade Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks

And that is that for the Celtics.

Seriously, why would they make that trade? Brown is, arguably, the best player on the team (and until Tatum fully recovers, there is no argument). The only reason to dump him for picks is if the team is going for a radical rebuild, except they signed Robinson to a fairly big deal.

I assume the owners do not want to pay for two max contracts. If they don't want to pay, they are not going to be able to seriously compete.

Or maybe Brown told the team he wanted out and this is the best offer they could find.

Was a bit of a head scratcher, I was reading Brown was irked he was included in Gianni's potential talks, which is understandable as he's carried the team during significant portions of Tatum's absences. Bos definitely throwing in the towel on this core.

Still don't know who legit contenders are in the east after this, NYK and Philadelphia? Mia is too empty to do anything even with Gianni's unless they decide to seriously invest in this window, which TBF they are good about.

They must have completely soured the relationship with all the trade talks for years. There's no way Paul George gets them closer to a title.
