Tim Horton's hasn't been Canadian (or good) for a long time now, so I'm not surprised that they are being shitty.

[–] rozodru@piefed.world 10 points 2 days ago

last week I went to a Tims cause I hadn't been in awhile and just wanted a large double double and 10 timbits. I felt like death after eating those timbits. god damn horrible. Coffee hadn't improved at all either. Was just muddy sugar water.

[–] iamthetot@piefed.ca 0 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Honestly, I had Tim's a week or so back and it was way better than I remember it being. Had a breakfast wrap and it was well constructed, stuffed, and tasted good.

Then not more than a day or two later, someone brought Tim's donuts to work, and those too were better than I remembered.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

what time period are you comparing it to?

[–] Pxtl@lemmy.ca 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I think Tim's hit the nadir in quality around 5-10 years ago. Everything since then has been a dead-cat-bounce - that is, they've gotten better simply because it was mathematically and chemically impossible to get worse. Like their various fried or scrambled egg additions are something approaching normal food, which is a huge improvement.

But "better" and "improvement" does not mean they're anything close to "good".

[–] iamthetot@piefed.ca 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Hm a few years or so, don't know exactly when the last time I would have had it. We used to go to Tim's for on the road breakfast but a few years ago starting being really disappointed by it, switched to A&W.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 1 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

I think that may be the source of the discrepancy here

my assumption is that most of us who say that Tim's is shit are talking about 5+ years ago at minimum

I haven't gone to a Tim's except to piss in a decade now, with just enough exceptions (nothing else nearby) that I can still hold my opinion that the service and food is crap. I've probably gone once every other year due to lack of options, just to get a coffee and a sandwich, and it's been fucking terrible every time. the food, the coffee, the service, the experience. all of it

[–] iamthetot@piefed.ca 1 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I'm not sure what the discrepancy is. You say you went very sparingly the last few years. I would say that's probably as much or more than I've gone the past few years, and that this last time I went, it was way better than I remember.

5 years ago would go into the timeframe where it was our go-to, but we've long since changed to A&W.

I'm just not at all sure what discrepancy you're talking about. Do you mean my comments haven't been consistent?

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 1 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I mean the discrepancy between your experience and those of other commenters who feel the need to downvote you for sharing your experience

[–] iamthetot@piefed.ca 2 points 14 hours ago

Oh I see. I think people just downvote shit they don't personally agree with no matter how tame or on topic it is. 🤷‍♂️

I actually am super proud of some sweeping changes my partner and I have made to our diets in the past year or two. We're eating way less processed food, probably 3x more fruit and veg, and a lot less red meat. Lost 32 lbs so far!

[–] iamthetot@piefed.ca 4 points 2 days ago

Nope, just a genuine lived experience. My partner and I usually go to A&W for breakfast stuff, and this was just an unusual circumstance. Since it just happened in my recent memory, and I saw the comment above, I thought I'd chime in. You know, the kind of thing that social platforms were designed for.

[–] Albbi@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

How dare someone describe a personal experience that doesn't match the narrative!

[–] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Tim's is garbage and you know it. I gotten sick everytime I've eaten one of their sandwiches. I havent eaten there in years.

[–] Albbi@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

Tim's has been less garbage than the hospital cafeteria which is my other option. I eat a couple ubagel belts nearly weekly and never gotten sick from it. Those 4 cheese bagels are pretty good.

[–] foggenbooty@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

That sounds like a you problem. I dislike Tims and what it has become, but loads of people eat there without getting sick. It's just low effort food, not poison.

Found Doug Ford’s account!

They’re better than 5 years ago for sure, but still not as good as 15 years ago.

If you’re doing fast food A&W Canada is basically the best, but thankfully there’s a new generation of competition all around.

[–] iamthetot@piefed.ca 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My partner and I generally do A&W for on the road breakfast, but this was an unusual morning and Tim's was way more convenient this time. And then, for the donuts, I mean I didn't pay for them.

I actually can't compare to 15 years ago personally.

TH used to bake in every store. Now they bake in industrial bakeries and deliver to stores. All garbage.
