harry potter was basically a huge reason why i survived before i came out of the closet but come on it hasn't been relevant in like 16 years why are you doing promotions on it? especially now that all rowling is known for is literal hate. she doesn't even do once a year battle of hogwarts posts on twitter anymore...

They're promoting it because there's a tv series coming out soon

I absolutely do not work at Tims. But if I did (which I don't), I would be squeezing every goddamn harry potter donut/timbit before serving. I'd be horribly preparing any given Harry Potter item.

I mean, Tim Hortons does ALL of that regardless, but I don't (if I worked at Tim's which I don't). However, if you support this Harry Potter bullshit despite that Rowling bitch's prowling transphobia, then fuck you too.

Please boycott Tim Hortons (at least till this transphobic nonsense passes).

Do you realize JKR posted about her experience laughing at a rape victim who called into her help line because she thought the voice sounded manly?

Tim Horton's hasn't been Canadian (or good) for a long time now, so I'm not surprised that they are being shitty.

It's pretty on brand tho. Harry Potter is essentially a half baked story with bad tasting holiday/ethnic sprinkles

Mudblood is a good description of their coffee.

This year's Back to Hogwarts also marks the 25th anniversary since the release of the first film adaptation [of the book]...

I am just curious where the line is drawn that makes it less a powderkeg of outrage and starts being worthy of at least an historical acknowledgement in recognition of the victim. If it's not film adaptations of books, is it once there are musicals based on film adaptations of books written by authors who have expressed offensive viewpoints? Or poems summarizing musicals based on film adaptations of books written by authors who have expressed offending viewpoints?

I'm trying to be honest and not make this tongue-in-cheek.

JKR is actively politically involved in the persecution of trans people and the protection of transphobes. Even if she does not directly profit from an individual piece of HP media, the success of any HP media strengthens her brand and thus her political power.

That's why it matters. Not an abstract question of "death of the author" or the Ship of Theseus of adaptations of adaptations, but the single contemporary living human being who converts Harry Potter's cultural cachet into actualized hatred.

Tim Hortons is anti-canadian, full stop.
