It would cause a ton of emissions

I mean.. blow up an oil refinery .. what do you think happens?

It’s already causing a ton of emissions.

It’s a one time event. It’s either perpetually offline, or it costs a ton of money to rebuilding. Increasing the cost to operate. Once operations costs are too much then it’s just not feasible to continue with this.

Once the oil is out of the ground, the emissions are pretty much inevitable. Somebody, somewhere, is going to burn it eventually.

Only thing you can do is to try to stop them from pulling it out of the ground.
