There are 4 Katnes movies, then the Snow prequel movie.
There's a Hamich prequlel movie coming soon as well.
I really wish they would stop the prequel shit in this franchise. They aren't good at it. The president Snow prequel was genuinely terrible. Both the movie and the book sucked and made no sense. They cheapened the original trilogy.
And I know people love to hate on the hunger games, but I think the original books and movies were solid and tackled some very relevant issues that we are increasingly dealing with today. And sure it has similarities with Battle Royale, but Battle Royale mostly focuses on the game itself and doesn't explore the wider society and how the people at the top end up using a kid to manipulate the masses in order to either maintain power or seize it. That's what I like about the hunger games. It explores all the consequences of an image focused society and that traumatize and retraumatize Katniss over and over and over again in order to further their causes. It isn't until the end of the final book that she sees through it and takes matters into her own hands in order to stop a repeat of the regime she's lived under her whole life.
I also like the ways it comments on ptsd, on the corruption and torture of the soul and how monsters are sometimes made.
It's not a perfect, flawless franchise, but it deserves so much more respect than what it is given. The media angle and the way the franchise systematically criticises the inhumanity of media is brilliant. Especially since the books were written for kids and teens in an attempt to make them think critically about the shit they are shown on tv/online.
In November, it's the reason they're putting out this five film run.
I can think of roughly five thousand franchises that deserve a big budget movie.
This is not one of them.
It's not that bad. It would be someplace in the 3600-4200 range for me.
Miles better than Twilight
Just mulling and one word came to mind.
X E N A!
Can anyone explain why we haven't had a damn Xena movie yet???
I can not. It's long overdue
The Freaking Jetsons get a movie!
The Jetsons???
Fuck a movie, we need a Xena sequel series. Get Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor back to pass the torch to a new generation of ass kicking women.
Ideally, both of them could be regulars as well, I just don't think they'd be down to do the fights anymore.
