Many people use headphones like sneharizer and beyerdynamic for 15 or 20 years. But how long do hifiman headphones last? Can you tell me your experiences?

Though it might sound foolish, I genuinely can't fully enjoy my Edition XS. Each time I put it on, I fear it might be the last time it works. I find myself being extra careful to avoid any sudden movements that might break it.

I previously had a Sundara that stopped working due to the slightest tug on the cable. However it is just too good for it price and I can’t stop myself getting the editions XS, but then after i got it i just use it less than my 6xx because of the fear of breaking it….

The XS is my most used pair for a year-ish, while the cable fell apart and I had to buy a new one, the cans themselves don't show any problems.

Strange. My Sundaras have been pulled by the cable off my desk onto the hardwood floor (by accident) half a dozen times by my dog before he learnt to avoid it. Zero issues, built like a tank.

It is foolish, you should just use your nice things. Sudden movements aren't going to damage your gear unless you yank them cable or have them fall off. Your Sundara were already on their way out if they died from "the slightest tug in the cable" and it was likely an easy fix with some soldering skills - not that it should be required to fix gear at this price range.

If it's meant to break, it will break at some point. Going by the anectdotal accounts of folks who had Hifimans break, they will likely break early or within the first year or so. If it doesn't break early, it will probably last quite a few years if cared for reasonably well, just like other analog devices.

I've had my Edition XS for 7ish months now. They aren't my most used pair, but I did drop them once from desk level and they were fine. I can't imagine a cable tug would do much unless they are already compromised in one way or another.
